John Charles Carini was born on January 29, 1933 to John and Concetta Carini in Rochester, New York, and passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 at 89 years of age. His wife Marie of 62 years preceded him in death in 2016.
John grew up on High Street in Fairport where he met Marie as a teenager. To impress her, he would bravely dive off the Parker Street Bridge in the village. They dated throughout high school and were married in 1954, three years after John’s graduation from FHS.
They began their life together living in Connecticut where John was stationed with the Coast Guard. They had four children together – Sandy, Patti, John and Andy. As a close-knit family, they enjoyed time together at sporting events, at their cottage on Canandaigua Lake, and on many family vacations.
John was co-founder and part owner of a successful construction company, Monroe Roadways, Inc., for nearly thirty years. Later in life, he established a custom home building business and then served as a project manager for various companies until his retirement.
An avid sports fan, John played multiple sports in high school and during his time in the Coast Guard. He also coached his children’s teams in Little League baseball and Pop Warner football.
John was a passionate golfer! He and Marie spent many winters in Florida where they could golf year ‘round. For many years, he organized weekly golf outings with his buddies and was fortunate to play the game he loved until he was 88 years old. He also loved watching and rooting for his favorite NFL team, the Buffalo Bills.
John will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, his passion for politics, and his love of country. He often “lectured” his children and grandchildren – his way of passing on wisdom and guidance to those he loved.
John was a wonderful father and a devoted husband. He will be dearly missed by all.
May he rest in peace for all of eternity.

I first met John and Marie at a meeting of a small group of folks concerned with the proposed Fairport Library Expansion. Their participation in the discussion made great sense, was fair and reasonable. John and I began a continuing email dialogue discussion our Constitution and how the liberties that we all enjoy can best be preserved and protected. John and Marie were both very proud of their family and showed continuing love for all of them in every chat we had. I admired John for his courage in the face of adversity, his compassion for others, his incredible honesty and his keen interest in learning and growing his mind. I consider him a true friend and will miss him greatly. He is now with our God and no longer suffering on this earth–a much deserved rest and glory for a life very well lived!
My sincere Sympathy to Sandy Patti Johnny and Andy and to all the Carini Family. The suffering is over and you will be reunited with my sister Marie.
