On behalf of the Perinton Recreation & Parks staff, we are so sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. His smile and wit will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace!
Rest In peace Fred. Will certainly miss you at the rec center and the good times we had at finger lakes race track;
To Fred’s family: He was our gym friend and our inspiration. We looked forward to seeing him each morning and hearing his wonderful stories. He will be sorely missed and not forgotten.
I have tears in my eyes as I write this! Fred loved cookies and I loved baking them for him. He always said I was a great baker but I was just doing something I could do for this wonderful man who was a friend to all. His service during WWII exemplifies this by his devotion to arranging top notch entertainment for our troops. You will remain close in my heart, Fred, especially when I am baking cookies.
Great guy. Grew up in the neighborhood with his amazing wife and son, Danny.. Loved hearing his stories. I’ll miss him taking my money playing cards. We always called him ‘King’.
I always looked forward to Fred’s arrival at the community center when I was on duty. He loved football, horse racing, poker and especially, bonded with people. Several of us enjoyed days with Fred at Finger Lakes track, where he tried to teach me about racing, although I remained a poor student. Fred’;s life will be embedded in my memory when I visit the center.
“Freddie!” – I always greeted him that way as he entered the Perinton Community Center on Thursday mornings, where I work at the upstairs desk, greeting and serving our patrons. – Fred was an amazing fellow – always managed.a smile – no matter how he felt. I told him he was my role model – getting over to the Rec Center to walk the track and work out. – rain or shine – Fred would routinely appear! I hope as I age, I will have Fred’s motivation & perseverance. I will miss our conversations about Finger Lakes Race Track – him sharing stories of “the good old days”; talking about when each of us went last,or when we we’re going again. Freddie – you will be dearly missed, never forgotten! You are Win,Place and Show in my book! God’s speed, my friend!
Uncle Fred. We will miss our Pinocle outings with you and visits to meet you at FingerLakes. Thanks for giving us the Race Horse ownership itch ….we are having a blast. The next time we are in the winners circle …. how about you stop down at Saratoga this summer and join us in the winners circle…. your positive spirit we will carry on.
To My Dear Uncle: I will miss you so much! You were larger than life to me as I was growing up. I looked so forward to your visits from overseas and your wonderful stories and photos of celebrities you worked with in your military career. Even into my late adulthood you always had a new one to tell. After all, whose uncle gets to meet Herman’s Hermits in person and can get their latest release for his niece before it hits the US!! Send my love to all our family members who have passed. You are in good hands I’m sure Grandma has already cooked you your favorite meal. Love, Susie
