Susan Nowak Carr passed away on March 10 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Susan was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother, and “Grammy” who loved to spend as much time as possible with her four grandchildren. Whether it was eating ice cream and watching the trains, sleepovers, pancake Fridays, crafting, reading books, painting, playdoh, or baking cakes, Grammy made sure the kids were messy, happy, and full.
Her loving, caring, and selfless soul touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Susan was a talented and creative artist. The owner of Susan’s Silver Gems, she exhibited her jewelry at many local festivals. She enjoyed knitting, painting, baking, and hosting. (tnsdiamonds.com) Susan was a devoted mother who loved to cheer on her children at their school and sports activities. She was the team mom and “Mama Carr” at every level, from Little League through college.
Susan is predeceased by her father John Nowak. She is survived by Richard Carr, her husband of 50 years, her son Christian Carr, her daughters Amie Bruckel (Colin) and Samantha Burkett (Gregory), her four grandchildren Lucy, Tommy, Penny, and Connor, her mother Natalie Nowak, her brother Kevin (Patti) Nowak, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The Carr family would like to thank Dr. Richard Dunne and Nicole A. Bubie, PAC, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wilmot Cancer Center to support the amazing work of the doctors and nurses.

My love, condolences and continued prayers to you, Rick, Amie, Sam and Chris and your families as well as Auntie Natie and Kevin & Patti. I have so many fond memories of Susan when I was growing up, sleeping over in Clarence, writing her letters when they moved to Webster, then spending time with her and your families in Fairport. She is one of the kindest, loving, selfless women I have ever known. ❤️
Rick, Condolences and prayers to you and the family. We’re so sorry for your loss. Susan was a special cousin, memories from childhood to the last few years are bright because of her. Times we met at the LPGA Golf Tournaments in Rochester to all the family picnic’s each summer. We’ll always have those fun loving memories of her. Rest in Peace my dear cousin.

I am so sorry about the passing of Sue, I am literally in shock. We were all about the same age when Grandma June passed away and I know like Grandma , Sue would want you to think of all the great times you had and how much she loved you and all the grandkids….always keep those memories in your heart and she will live on forever. May God Bless you all.. all our love…Debbie, John and family
Sue was one of the most generous women my husband and I ever knew. Our children attended Fairport schools together and our daughter is best friends with Sue and Rick’s youngest, Through baseball, proms and more Sue has been a beacon of love and caring. When our son, Carl passed away 9 years ago she made two wonderful meals for us. It broke our hearts to hear of her illness and passing. Always smiling, talented painter, beautiful artist with a needle, and great cook, her talents and spirit will be greatly missed.
Dear Rick and family,
I so wish I could say something to make it better or easier for you. May her memory be a blessing. Hugs.
