Christidis, Maria

Maria Christidis, age 86, died peacefully February 24^th with her family by her side. Born in Drosopigi, Greece to Kosmas and Dafni Mihou.  Survived by her loving husband of 64 years Pavlos, children Elias (Brigit) Christidis, Thomai Christidis-Doris, Kosmas (Donna) Christidis, grandchildren – Daphne, Pavlos, and Zoe Christidis, Corinna (Ryan ) O’Neal, Andreas, and Nadia Doris, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Alex Christidis. Also survived by sister Margarita Tegas, brothers-in-law Sotirios Styliadis, Kostas Liapis, and many dear relatives and friends throughout the USA, Greece, and Canada.  Reunited with her beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Anastasia (Van) Stathe, Ekaterini Styliadis, Kasiani Liapis, Stylianos Tegas.

Maria was happiest when she was able to provide a warm and comfortable home for her family and friends with an abundance of traditional Greek dishes. Her homemade breads and Old World recipes brought joy to all. Maria’s grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she traveled near and far to bear witness to their graduations, soccer games, and other achievements. Her most recent highlight was to be able to travel to California to be a part of her eldest grandchild’s wedding. Maria’s kind and gentle nature, and her quiet determination and resilience are an inspiration to all who love her.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, February 28th from 5-7pm, followed by the Trisagion Service at 7pm, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Avenue, Rochester NY 14607. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 1st at 11am, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park.
