Newark – May 17, 1954- October 25, 2020

Born in Oneida, NY on May 17, 1954 and passed peacefully at home with family by his side on October 25, 2020. Craig was predeceased by his parents Alan and Marieta Carey and his brother Scott Carey, as well as his beloved Uncle Chuck and cousin Glenn Tallman. He is survived by his devoted wife Cathie, loving son Jon and daughter-in-law Maday Martinez with whom he had much in common.

He is also survived by his caring Aunt Marion Tallman, Sister-in-law Joy Fidler (Duke), Nieces Allison Carey (Michael), Bekah Coates (Pat), Nephews Adam Carey (Sybil), and Dave Fidler, and cousins Dale Tallman (Beverly), and Tim Tallman as well as many friends and co-workers.

Craig worked for over 40 years as a commercial insurance broker for several of the world’s largest insurance companies. He started in New York City before eventually moving back to the Rochester area in 1990. After a long and successful career, Craig began his well-deserved retirement in June of 2019.

Craig had a fondness for sports cars, especially of the British variety. He enjoyed driving his Triumph TR6 immensely and was a past President of the Greater Rochester Triumph Touring Club.

He also loved spending time with the family pets. He had a strong bond with the dogs (Coco and Belle) and cat (Jersey Girl). They were a constant source of comfort to him especially during his cancer treatment.

Craig was a hard-working man who loved his family very much. He was a source of inspiration for many and will be missed by all.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 8th from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home at 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road in Fairport, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his honor.

Would be nice if we could see the photo at the top of this post. Right now it is just showing a “?” in an empty block.

I had the pleasure of knowing Craig through our employment at First Niagara Risk Management. He was the consummate professional and gentleman and his door was always open for anyone. Other than work, he was a good friend and was always upbeat and positive about the future despite his many struggles with health of which he never complained. He loved his family and always spoke often and fondly of them. He will be missed by me and all who knew him.. Rest in peace, my friend

Craig, my cousin, was loved and admired by everyone in our family. If you knew of the health struggles he fought since birth you’ll appreciate so much the life he made for himself and his family. Even as kids he worked twice as hard to keep up, never complaining. So it was throughout his life. Craig loved his family so much and our hearts go out to Cathie and Jon. Till the day comes when we meet again over the horizon, Rest In Peace my friend and cousin
