Patricia Ann Turner Lyeth Cushing peacefully entered eternal rest with her Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2020. She was 90 years young.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Laurette (Temmerman) Turner, her brother Paul Turner, her eldest stepdaughter Nancy Lyeth Purcell and her second husband Don J. Cushing.
Pat is survived by her brother Bill (Georgie) Turner and their children Laurie and Steven, as well as other nieces and nephews; her first family former husband Robert J. Lyeth and step children Shelly (Joe) Cicero, Terry (Joe) Pratt and Michael Lyeth, seven grandsons and six great-grandchildren; and her second family step children Brad (Debby) Cushing, Grant (Gina) Cushing and Kim (Mike) Nietopski, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A life-long greater-Rochesterian, Pat graduated from Nazareth (high school) Academy where she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She continued her education at Nazareth College. Pat, formerly Sister Laura, became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, where she served for approximately 20 years teaching at Catholic schools within the Rochester Diocese.
Pat will best and long be remembered for her teaching service. After serving as a teacher in the Catholic school system, Pat continued teaching in the Rush-Henrietta School District for another 23 years. During her 43 years as a devoted educator, Pat taught grades from kindergarten through 7th grade. Outside of her career, Pat was an active volunteer at schools, nursing homes and churches, serving as a Eucharistic Minister.
Pat enjoyed singing, dancing, skiing, golf, traveling, the arts and time with family. She loved taking cruises, canoeing and hiking in the Adirondacks as well as traveling internationally. Pat often attended concerts and theatre productions.
Out of an abundance of caution and care for family and friends during the Covid-19 Pandemic, interment is private. Memorial services will be held in the future at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s honor to any of her favorite charities: Rochester Institute of Technology, School of the Holy Childhood, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or GEVA.

Pat was a great friend and colleague. We carpooled for at least 10 years while teaching in Rush Henrietta, and remained friends with her and Don following retirement. She was a wonderful, caring person. Bless you, Pat. Bobbi Mahood
Pat was an amazing woman and devoted her life to others. She had a long and sad illness that finally took her home to the arms of our Lord. Many thoughts of her life and as an individual who left a mark on humanity and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in please with those she loved.
Pat was a lovely woman , who always looked at life with a positive attitude. She was adventurous, and witty. She had a real love of the poor. She and Don worked very hard in the Church of the transfiguration garden….hours were spent so others would benefit. We miss Pat and Don, a wonderful ,loving couple. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
