Mary Ann Dakin, 62 of East Rochester, NY passed away on March 6, 2023 after a long illness.
Mary was born to parents Edward Dakin and Lois Dakin (Peters) on 10/8/60. She is predeceased by her parents and sister Patricia Hill.
Mary grew up in Henrietta where she graduated from James E. Sperry High School. She lived in Henrietta, Penfield and later East Rochester. Mary held a variety of jobs over the years, but her most rewarding job was taking care of people, young and old. (redmanpowerchair) She ran a licensed day care out of her home for many years and was loved by the children and parents. Her most recent position was as Office Manager at a senior living facility.
Mary’s greatest joy and most important person in her life was her son, Adam Balistere. He was her greatest gift. Mary and Adam had an unbreakable bond that brought them joy and purpose. They cherished each other’s company and knew they could count on one another through any challenge.
Mary is survived by Adam and siblings Kathleen Collins, Diane Pomponio (Art), John Dakin (Sharon), William Dakin (Donna), Susan Kearney (Kevin), Thomas Dakin (Anne), Joseph Dakin (Marilyn), and Michael Dakin (Carole). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mary’s Calling hours will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home at 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road (Egypt location). Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the White Haven Cemetery All Season’s Chapel on 210 Marsh Road, Fairport, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golisano Children’s Hospital or the Wilmot Cancer Center. The address for donations is University of Rochester Gift and Donor Record, Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627. Please indicate your choice, and reference Mary’s name.

Mary worked with me in the Medical Communications Department at Fisons Pharmaceuticals back in the early 1990s. She was a capable, talented worker and a good friend to everyone. I was so sad to learn of her passing. My condolences to all.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mary. She was a very big part of the gang back then. The laughs that we had, the parties that we attended, and the memories that will never go away . Mary was a very loving, joyful friend, with a smile wherever she went. She will be dearly missed.

Mary and I were very close when our boys were growing up together. She was a sweetheart. A beautiful woman with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. RIP Mary.
Very sorry to learn of Mary Ann’s passing. She was a sweet girl & I have fond memories of her and our circle of friends back in the day.

Mary worked at The Legacy and was so very nice to all of the residents especially my mother- in – law. She was kind and gave of her time and concern for all.
