Richard Andrew Decker, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather, lived life to the fullest and was always a kind, positive person, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024.

Richard was born on July 25, 1944 in Irondequoit, New York. He was well liked by the neighborhood kids, he had a paper route and he always loved having fun.

He had a career as an electrical engineer with Kodak and took great interest in the work he did. His retirement gave him time to spend with friends and his many children and grandchildren, this brought him much joy. He was such a jokester and everyone could appreciate his sense of humor.

Richard was a loving, loyal and devoted husband. His ritual of bringing his wife coffee every morning was the way they started each day. Vacationing with his family on the Jersey shore, trips to see his kids, and weekly lunches with his friends were some of his favorite pastimes.

He was predeceased by his father Wells Decker, mother Madeline (Thompson) Decker, brother Dave Decker and son, Andrew Decker. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Gale Decker, daughters Brittney (Brian) Richardson, Ashley Decker, Sandra Steinmetz, son Brandon (Ellen) Decker; grandchildren, Rayne and Clark Richardson, Kaylee, Natalie and Matthew Snyder, Colin, Ria and Aimee Kinsella, Nick, Vincent and Patrick Gingello, Vivian, Mira and Maxwell Decker, many well loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and his sister Patricia (Decker) Markham who will miss him deeply. Feel free to make a contribution to the charity of your choice in his name, so that his legacy of kindness, caring and generosity may continue to live on.

Richard will always be missed and loved by his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Rich’s passing. I knew Rich by working with him at Kodak “C”
building. I enjoyed the few short years that I worked with him.
I lost touch with Rich after I left C building and returned to Kodak Park. That was many years ago.

I remember repairing Rich’s dryer at his house as I had an outside electrical business of my own.

I didn’t know much about Rich outside of work, but it looks like he had a very happy life in retirement with all of his family.

I also knew Rich’s dad (Wells) and his mom and had visited their home when I was much younger. Rich’s dad (Wells) and my dad worked together at Taylor Instruments many years ago. Wells visited my dad’s home many times when I was young and helped my dad add a garage to the house. I didn’t know Rich until I met him at Kodak,

Again, I am so sorry about Rich’s passing.
