It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jared A. DeMarzo announce his sudden and tragic passing on May 30, 2025 at the age of 43.
A resident of Fairport, Jared was born in Middletown, NY. Having an affinity for language, during his high school years in Cooperstown, NY, Jared took 4 years of Latin while simultaneously taking 2 years of Japanese through Cornell University. His Junior year, Jared participated in a foreign exchange program, attending school and living with a Japanese family on Okinawa for several months. By the time he graduated high school in 1999, Jared was fluent in Japanese.
Jared then attended the University of Maryland at College Park, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Japanese with a Business Citation. Jared chose a different career path, however. He attended Monroe Community College, graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, and worked as a medical coder in area hospitals for several years. Wishing to be more directly involved in patient care, Jared then earned a Certification as a pharmacy technician and greatly enjoyed being a part of a hospital pharmacy health care team. His clever, witty repartee was often a welcome delight to coworkers.
Jared was an artist and lover of all things Japanese. He created many Anime characters and often shared or sold his drawings and figures. Constructing, creating, and painting Warhammer figures was another form of artistic expression he greatly enjoyed. Every summer, Jared would voluntarily attend the Sterling Renaissance Fair dressed as a plague doctor, to the delight of many of the visitors. Jared also enjoyed hiking some of the trails in Perinton and long walks along the Erie Canal.
A quiet soul who was often misunderstood, Jared will be greatly missed.
Jared is survived by his parents, Frank and Wendy DeMarzo of Fairport, NY, a sister and a nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held for Jared at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 9, 2025 at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY, 14534. A celebration of his life will follow at White Haven’s All Seasons Chapel from 1:30-3:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Wendy DeMarzo, P.O. Box 255, Dansville, NY, 14437- 0255 to support a fund for a memorial bench in Jared’s name alongside the Erie Canal.

Jared was genuinely kind, wildly talented, and witty. He was able to find joy in nature, art, and intimate social circles.
He loved portraying a plague Dr at the renisence festival. He even brought in the mask, some of the custom made coins and photos. Jared was a great coworker. He never missed the opportunity to lift someone’s spirits by tell a joke or engage in sarcastic banter. He took pride in his work and being in a helping field. Once Jared felt comfortable with you he would come out of his shell and that was a treasure. He shared his passions and knowledge which lead to some very informative conversations. Jared deep love and appreciation for his family was evident everytime he talked about them. My deepest condolences, prayers and heartfelt sympathy is with your family during this sudden and immense loss. Christine – Sadly, unless something funny or unusual happened, Jared generally did not tell his dad and I about his interactions with others at work nor did he name names, so unfortunately, we know nothing about you. However, we cannot begin to tell you how much your posting meant to us because connecting with others could often be very difficult for Jared. Not many people “got” him: his quirkiness; his sharp, often sarcastic (but always humorous) wit; his desire to share with others and to fit in. It therefore warms our hearts to hear that you (and we therefore assume other coworkers) did “get” Jared and we have no doubt that he appreciated that more than you could know. Thank you so much for sharing that with us.

I was one of his supervisors at strong. Jared made connections and once he found common ground with someone he easily engaged with coworkers. We have several staff memeber who enjoy anime and they would converse endlessly. While I am not part of the anime network I loved listening to the group conversation. Jared and I connected over nature, art and family. It was always a pleasure to work with him. Myself and several coworkers will be at the service Monday. My deepest sympathies are with your family during this unfathomable loss.

Jared and I met on the job in 2021 and quickly bonded over our mutual love for cats, language learning, and above all, cosmic horror. He was always someone I could laugh with, and a person I genuinely loved having around. Ruhe in Frieden, mein Freund. Die Welt wird dich vermissen
I am absolutely broken over his loss! Jared was a pleasure to work with and in the short time he was with us he will be truly missed. Jared brought us a puzzle in his final week and he was working on it the morning I last saw him, we are working hard to complete it and will seal and hang it in his memory. Jared and I went to high school together and sat with the same group of friends at lunch for years. I still think about the conversations we would have and how much he enjoyed talking about anime and his knowledge of the Japanese and Latin languages. My condolences to his entire family on the loss of such a unique and wonderful soul.
Jared and I were in Scouts together and graduated in the same class. I remember playing Magic the Gathering and his wicked sense of humor. He will be missed.
