Carol Ward Diedering passed quickly and unexpectedly from her earthly home to her heavenly home on July 23, 2022. She was born on February 21, 1932 to Humphrey Randolph and Helen Schaale in Natick, Massachusetts. Her mother died giving birth to her younger brother, Richard, and she learned early on that life has unexpected challenges. She attended college, earning a degree in retailing, and soon after married James Garfield Diedering in 1955. They lived in Blacksburg, VA where, through Bible Study and fellowship, Carol established her lifelong relationship with Jesus. They moved to Penfield, NY in 1956. Carol gave birth to three children and then experienced the hardship of divorce, which spurred her on to go back to school while raising the three children. She earned a nursing degree from Monroe Community College, while also working full time, and then worked as a nurse for over 30 years.
Carol had an artist’s heart, creating pieces in copper enameling, knitting/crochet, sewing, and rug hooking, and, she earned several awards for her work. She loved gardening, from fruits and vegetables to orchids and bonsai ornamentals. This passion she passed on to her children as well as her faith, which she would testify was her source of strength and assurance in life. She enjoyed meeting new people and could listen and relate to everyone she met, which endeared her to many throughout her life.
Carol is survived by her three children Susan Barrett, Jim Diedering and Deborah Plaver (Michael), her three grandchildren; Megan Chaney (Will), Michelle Plaver, Marie Plaver and her two great grandchildren; Ariana and Barrett. She was pre-deceased by her three brothers, Randolph, Richard, and John Ward.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 30th at 11:00 with visitation from 10:00 until the time of service at the Calvary Chapel Macedon at 1704 Wayneport Rd, Macedon, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Youth for Christ or Zion’s Hope.
