Ralph passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 91.He is predeceased by his parents Ralph Sr. and Helen Dintruff. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Jane (Harnden) Dintruff, daughters Elizabeth Uzoaru, Deborah Dore, Jacqueline Engle, and son Philip Dintruff. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren,and a sister Diane along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Ralph was born in Rochester, NY August 22, 1933 and was a long time resident of Fairport, NY. Ralph graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at Suny Binghamton and received his Master’s degree in Education at Suny Brockport. He had a fulfilling career teaching for 33 years, for a short time in Marion, NY with the majority of his time at Fairport West Avenue Elementary and Fairport Northside Elementary. Ralph was always happy to share with everyone his summer escapades during college. Those included working in construction on many of the interstate roads and bridges in Monroe county, including working with dynamite and driving a truck.
Ralph was a lifetime coin collector (Numismatist) and was President of the Rochester Numismatic Association in 1993. He was an avid bowler at Fairview Lanes for many years along with his wife.
He will be deeply missed and remembered for his charm, quick wit, warm heart and loyalty to those he held close.
Calling hours will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, followed by a 12:00 pm funeral service at White Haven All Seasons Chapel, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY. The Service will also be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@ExtonMediaServices/featured.

Always loved chatting with Ralph and Jane at an RNA meeting, or the coin show, or the picnic, or the banquet! He will truly be missed. RIP
Mr. Dintruff was my 6th grade teacher at west ave. School. I remember him as a serious but kind person, a quality teacher. Everyone respected him and therefore there was never any issues in the classroom. He is the only teacher I remember specifically in my early years in school so he definitely made an impression on me. My condolences to the entire family.
Mr. Dintruff was my sixth grade teacher- the best and most memorable!! He made me do my best work and would turn it back and say “I know you can do better”. I will remember him always!
Ralph was my 4th grade teacher in Marion NY. I believe Marion was where he began his teaching career. He was in Marion only a few years before moving on to Fairport. I do remember him so he must have been one of the good ones.

My sympathies to Jane and family. Ralph was a great bowling coach! I always enjoyed our conversations at Fairview Lanes.
By far Mr. Dintruff was my FAVORITE teacher. He was stern but fair. Even as a young 6th grader I could tell he enjoyed teaching. He always put 100 % effort in teaching & he expected nothing less from his students. He gave us plenty of homework as he always proclaimed he was preparing us for Jr. High. Of course Mr. Dintruff was right as Jr. High was easy thanks to him. He always went the extra mile. I remember instead of having parents bring in cider & donuts for our Class Halloween Party that after school he took a bunch of us in his station wagon to Schutt’s Apple Farm. Mr. Dintruff had us use our small class treasury to purchase everything for our party. Mr. Dintruff taught Chess to every student who was interested in learning to play. I’m glad I had the privilege of having Mr.Dintruff as my teacher in the 1966-67 school year. He had a positive influence on all of his students.
Mr. Dintruff was a gentleman and a role model. He took the time to get to know me and encourage me.
Mr. Dintruff was my 6th grade teacher at the Forman Center (while Martha Brown was under construction). He was my favorite teacher, extremely kind but firm when he knew I could do better. He had a warm smile, that always made me feel comfortable in the classroom with my classmates. I thought of him throughout the years, especially when I drove past his yellow house on Ayrault Road!
My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. May your memories of him bring a warm smile to your heart, as well as one upon face.

Mr. Dintruff was my 4th grade teacher at Northside and was always helpfull and passionate about teaching and making sure we were learning and enjoying being in his classroom.
Ralph was the best. Both Jane and Ralph were the most amazing people. Mr D taught my girls in grade school in Fairport. He was always sweet,kind , and a wonderful teacher and friend. It never failed for them to speak to you when they saw you. Both made you feel like they knew you all their life. He will be missed. God has received a good apple there.
