Daniel M. Doyle, 64, of Franklin, TN passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of family on May 19, 2025, after a courageous and difficult battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dan is survived by his wife Bridget (Hughes) Doyle of 18 years, and his children: Chris (April) Rauer, Meredith (Tyler) Bready, Eldon Doyle, Liam Doyle, and stepson Patrick (Aja) Hughes. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Corbin, Willow, and Margaret. In addition, he is remembered by his siblings: Diane Sousa, Irene Carter, Mary Lou Stoltz, Tim Doyle, Maureen Moss, Kathryn Kitty Varlan, Karen Bell and Jen Ward, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Doyle and his brother Terry Doyle.
Dan was born in Rochester, NY on August 6, 1960, the ninth of ten children. He was lovingly known as “Danny” to all his siblings. He enjoyed family gatherings of all kinds, especially when playing euchre was involved. He had close relationships with his nieces and nephews and was considered a favorite uncle by many of them.
A graduate of Hilton High School in 1978, Dan was well-liked by both classmates and teachers. They loved his sense of humor, intelligence, and spirit of fun. Dan cherished the memories and relationships he formed during his high school years. He remained in contact through phone calls, Facebook, or by traveling considerable distances to meet friends in person.
Dan also studied at Clarkson University. He became an accomplished controls engineer who worked for various companies throughout his career.
Dan was a devoted husband to his wife Bridget, showing his love in both big and small gestures. He enjoyed planning special birthday celebrations. His greatest surprise was a trip to Las Vegas that included a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon.
Additionally, Dan was very dedicated to his family. He enthusiastically supported the various interests and activities of his children. He coached youth football and baseball teams, served as parent volunteer for taekwondo, wrestling, and school music and theater programs. He took great pleasure in creating personalized invitations to his children’s birthday and graduation parties, and when two of his children got married, he put together touching slide shows.
As a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, Dan took immense pride in having been a season ticket holder earlier in his life. Whether he was at the game or watching on tv, it was well known in the
family that Dan lived and died with each win or loss of the Bills. He loved to wear his Bills hat or clothing when he was out, which helped him connect with fellow fans. Dan even had a chance encounter with the cousin of Bills quarterback Josh Allen at a hospital Starbucks in Nashville. Later, on the night before he passed, a neighbor sent Dan a video message from Bills player, Dawson Knox, who offered him prayers and well wishes. Dan truly lived by the motto, “Be Good, Do Good, God Bless, Go Bills.”
It cannot be overstated how much Dan thrived and grew from cultivating and maintaining connections with friends, family, and colleagues throughout his life. He had a gift for staying in contact with these important people. The family would like to extend their thanks to all those who have been a source of support and laughter through the many twists and turns of a life well lived.
