Duino, James Michael “Mic

On Saturday, January 11, 2020, James (Mic) Duino, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 72. Mic was born May 8, 1947 in Erie, PA to Nolan (Bud) & Helen (Daily) Duino. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1965 where he was a member of the school rifle club. Immediately following graduation, Mic enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After he was discharged, Mic worked at Bausch & Lomb for 10+ years. Following his time at Bausch & Lomb he became an independent manufactures representative for several different optical companies. Most recently he worked at Smitty’s Coin Shop in Canandaigua, NY. Mic met the love of his life, Becky Sharpe, in 1967 and they married September 7, 1968 in Our Lade of Peace Church in Erie, PA. They raised one daughter, Michelle, and twin sons, Christian & Michael. In addition to his love of golf, he enjoyed trap shooting, playing cards, boating, and family vacations. He was an avid collector of… everything, and you would be hard pressed not to see him at your local garage or estate sale. He especially loved the holiday season and would always know how many more days until Christmas no matter the time of year. He was a very social able guy – if you ran into him at Wegmans, he wouldn’t think twice about talking your ear off. He knew everything about anything – if he didn’t blind you with brilliance, he would baffle you with bulls**t.

Mic was preceded in death by his father, Bud, and his mother, Helen. He is survived by his wife, Becky, his three children, Michelle, Christian & Michael, his grandchildren Riley & Cyrus, his brother John, his Uncle Russell Duino, and several other extended family members. For those of you who knew him, you probably didn’t need to read any of this as you would have already heard his whole life story a number of times.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 1PM at St.John of Rochester, Fairport (8 Wickford Way). Remembrances may be made to VFW Perinton Memorial Post #8495 or Brindle posse Rescue Inc, a local rescue group that rescues old and injured dogs, on behalf of Mic Duino. Donations can be made through PayPal at paypal.me/brindleposse or mailed to 153 Chesterfield Drive, Rochester, NY 14612.

What a wonderful tribute that describes Mickey so well. One could never escape a visit with Mickey without a story, an anecdote, a joke, an interesting fact, and most importantly- a smile. Our lives were truly blessed because we knew him! Sympathy and love to Becky and family.

So very sorry to hear about Mic. He was a great addition to MCL and will be missed. He always had a story about when he was at the “Grand” shooting trap.

Becky, my heart aches for you and your family! Mickey was such a SPECIAL man. As has been said so well, he had a wealth of information. Learning that we both knew Erie & Strong Vincent was very special. Love hearingv all the stories & experiences. So glad you had that last family outing at the beach.

Becky, We’re so sorry to hear of Mic’s passing. My first memories of him were as your next door neighbor, when he would tell me all about how much better it was to rent than own and how he and you could just go out and do whatever you wanted, no home maintenance obligations. Then there were the many times I’d be watering plants in the back yard, and he’d pop around the corner and our conversations would ramble from one thing to another! He loved growing tomatoes and making his own sauce. After I moved to the next building and got married, Mic would always slow to a stop on his travels and talk for a few minutes, asking what we’re drinking, if we’d been shooting, or what’s for dinner? He’d often mention his grandson in the Marines. Mic always seemed like a happy guy and we truly miss him. It just won’t be the same this summer without his wit and a wave along the way.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Duino. He was such an inspirational, fun, smart, zany and incredible man in all the years I knew him growing up. It seems like yesterday all the fun times at the house playing games, talking out front in the lawn and hanging out by our 3 adjoining mailboxes and talking about life in general. He will be dearly missed and I know he is in Heaven with my parents and probably has a lot of catching up to do on all what has happened as my Dad and Mic could talk for hours, May he rest in peace.
