It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother at age 87 on October 24, 2025. She passed while with her son and daughter during her stay at The Friendly Home. She had a long and wonderful life, including many great times and lots of laughs along the way.
Born November 9, 1938, Josi graduated from Fairport High School and was a lifelong resident of Fairport. In 1956, she was named Monroe County’s Harvest Queen. She spent her career in the real estate and home building business; was an active usher at the Church of the Assumption and was in the community chorus in Fairport, and a former member of the Rochester chapter of the National Association of Woman in Construction (NAWIC).
As many know, throughout her life, Josi was always up for a party and loved entertaining. (Impromptu gatherings were her specialty.) She was an amazing cook who loved music, the theater, being a church usher, and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family.
Josi is survived by her son, Guy (Mara) Eckert and daughter, Traci (Mike) Gillespie; granddaughters Emma and Sydney Eckert and grandson Jack Campbell. Josi is preceded in death by her parents (Joseph and Rose Tiraborelli) and siblings (Nick and Hank Tiraborelli).
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, and how she was always game to travel South to see her grandchildren take part in school activities, theater, sports and band events.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday October 31, 2025 at the Church of the Assumption 20 East Avenue Fairport, NY 14450 at 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lollypop Farm 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450.

Dear Guy and Traci,
We all share in your loss. Your mother now rests in the arms of a loving and merciful Lord. She is in a place that God has specifically prepared for her, a place of peace and comfort. He is the Good Shephard, He leads us through all the darkness and into the light of his eternal Kingdom. There is no longer any pain, Josi’s soul is now filled with peace and comfort.
I will remember our many times together on the lake in Canandaigua, at her home in Fairport and visiting in Naples Florida. Always so full of life, she brought the warmth of her joy and a beautiful smile to every occasion. I will miss her positive can-do spirit, her warm greetings and her special sense of humor. It was always a blessing to be in her company and an honor for me to call her a friend.
I now pray for this special child of God and for her family. May God bless you all.
