John F. Englebrecht, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at home on December 2, 2024, surrounded by his family. His life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family, whom he cherished above all else.
Born on August 19, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio, John spent most of his life in Cleveland, Ohio and Upstate New York. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961, being honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1967. His professional journey began in the forge shops of Cleveland, where he honed his engineering skills. John ended his career as the Facilities Engineering Manager of Cooper Tools in Cortland, New York.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda (Ruby), and their two daughters, Ramona and Shannon. He is also survived by two son-in-laws, Andrew Vacanti and Richard Seidenstein, and four granddaughters, Allison Vacanti (Adam Moore), Abigail Vacanti, Lindsey Seidenstein (fiancé Anton Nikulsin), and Skye Seidenstein.
John was known for his steadfast sense of fairness and his eagerness to volunteer for various causes. He was an avid reader, a world traveler, and an enthusiast of hands-on activities, including gardening, stained glass making, and home remodeling. However, his favorite pastime was spending quality time with his loved ones, whether it was enjoying a good Scotch, engaging in meaningful conversations, or simply savoring life’s moments.
The phrase that best encapsulates John’s character is “he was one of the good ones.”
Please join us in honoring John’s memory and celebrating his life on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1 pm to 4 pm, at Flaherty’s Grill and Taproom, located at 113 Pittsford Palmyra Road, in Macedon, New York.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that you consider making a donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, http://www.t2t.org.
