James “Jim” Enright, 90, of Fairport, New York, passed away peacefully on September 26,  2025 surrounded by family.  Born on August 19, 1935 in Rochester, New York, Jim lived a long and full life rooted in family, hard work, and an unwavering loyalty to the things he loved.

Jim was a 1953 graduate of The Aquinas Institute, Jim was an “athlete-student” who played football during his school years. He played one year of college football at Cortland State before graduating from Monroe Community College.

Jim’s work ethic was unmatched. Throughout his 50 year career at Rochester Telephone Company following a 15 year career with BOCES, he rarely missed a day of work. His dedication spanned decades until his official retirement at the remarkable age of 83. He made sure to instill that value into his children and grandchildren.

An avid sports fan throughout his life, Jim was a loyal fan of the New York Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. His enthusiasm for sports, particularly football, was infectious—he never missed a game if he could help it even if his wife Louise went into labor. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

Jim’s love for his grandchildren was boundless. He embraced modern technology with joy—using Facebook to stay connected with them and even becoming friends with their friends online. Facetime calls during school hours, calling them for frequent tech support at any hour became a signature move that brought laughter and connection across generations. Being part of their lives brought him immense happiness.

Jim cherished his family. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 67 years, Louise; children Danny (Marie), Julie, and Sue (Mark); grandchildren Danny (Hannah), Ricky (Molly), Katie (Michael), Joey (Jenn), Jimmy, Henry, Michael (Leah), Ellen, Abbey, and Mary Kate; and great-grandchild Logan. He also leaves behind his brothers Bob (Margie), Tom (Gail); dear brothers in law Kenny, Bob, sisters in law Jean and Barbara as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were dear to him.

Jim was predeceased by his son Michael, parents John and Agnes Enright; siblings Jack (Mary Kay)  ,Terry,  Margaret; in-laws Art and Rita Abel.

He deeply valued the close-knit bond he shared with his immediate family, his extended Ehmann family and many friends. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire love and dedication in all whose lives he touched.

All are invited to attend Jim’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 2nd at 11:00 AM. Mass will be held at St John of Rochester, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY 14450. The mass will also be livestreamed at https://stjohnfairport.org/streaming. Private Interment.

  4. Jim had a habit of punching me very hard every time he saw me. Ouch. Love tap it wasn’t. It was Jim’s way of saying HI to me. In fact, I liked it.

Jim was an incredible person AND a loving cousin. He was. NY Giants football fan, more so than my Bills.

I really loved Jim. A great story about Jim was I was at Donovan’s bar on Gregory Street one night. Jim came in around 9 PM. He had just finished painting his bedroom at his home, 819 So Goodman Street.

He wanted me to see it and took me and a friend to see it. Yes, he/we woke up Louise. Ha.

    It was quite well done.

His MLB love was the St Louis Cardinal baseball team. At one time, they were the parent club to our Red Wings.

It was hard to not like Jim as he was so friendly and interesting. He liked it that I worked at Rochester Telephone part time and summers during my college days.
A good memory of Jim was he used to park his Roch Tel truck against #24 school and watch us younger kids play softball.

All in all Jim was one great guy. I am glad he was my cousin. I used to eat breakfast Sunday mornings at the Enrights as was was an assistant paperboy to Jim’s brother Terry.

God Bless you Jim. I trust you are in heaven. As I am now 81 years old, I expect I will see you soon.

    God Bless you cousin Jim!!

  6. I didn’t see much of Jim & Louise in later years–mostly at the Clambakes–but always loved to see them there.

I worked downtown for many years (many years ago!). Once in a while when I was out and about on my lunch hour or leaving Zutes Luncheonette where I worked after school, I would hear a loud “Hey Andrea” and I would look around and there was Jim in his RT truck with that big, beautiful grin. (I felt almost famous for a minute!) What a special guy and a great cousin. Rest with the Angels, dear Jimmy.

  7. My wife Gerry and I had the pleasure of knowing Jimmy back as far as grammar school days at St Boniface and kept that friendship going thru high school where we were team mates ,weddings ,raising our families , neighbors ,and now he reunites with Gerry in Heaven and hopefully the both of them can somehow ease the pain of their loss for Louise and me 🥲❤️❤️❤️❤️ Gone but never forgotten ❤️❤️❤️❤️Bill

  8. Farewell Jim. Your great spirit sense of humor, and kindness will be remembered. rest in peace my friend

  9. I somehow missed the obit and mass for Jim. Jim and Louise were/are great friends. Jim was a special person, and I’m glad I got to see him within a week of his passing. I had the pleasure of building their home. Every time I saw/visited him, he would complain of something, while Louise had nothing but praise/thanks. I laugh just thinking about it. May he rest in peace.

  10. To Louise and family, I want to offer my sincere condolences. I truly enjoyed connecting with cousin Jim and sharing stories about the families. May rest in RIP
