Bill was born on April 20, 1942 in Schenectady, NY to Wilfred and Rose Ericson. Growing up, his cousins Cathy and Maria were like sisters to him. He attended the State University of New York at Buffalo and was pledge master of Sigma Tau Rho fraternity. Upon graduation in 1964, Bill obtained a teaching position at Lockport High School. In 1966 he moved to Fairport, New York and worked as a technology teacher at Fairport High School for 31 years. During that time he earned an Outstanding Young Educator award, was nominated by the district for New York State Teacher of the Year, served as president of the Fairport Teachers’ Association and industrial arts department head, and earned his Master’s degree in educational administration from SUNY Brockport. Bill was a member of Rotary, had perfect attendance for 13 years, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. Bill and long-time friend Bobbie enjoyed time on their houseboat in the Seneca Lake State Park Marina and made yearly trips to Vermont and Maine. Breakfasts with friends and colleagues were special times for Bill, too. Bill was known for his cooking and added his creative flair to his dishes. Nothing brought a smile to Bill’s face more quickly than seeing his grandchildren Alice, David, Matthew, Alexandra, and Max.
