Fairport, NY – Daniel A Farchione, Jr. passed away on January 15, 2022 after a valiant and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He will be deeply missed.
Dan was born January 3, 1961 in Canandaigua NY, the only son of Daniel and Amelia (Palumbo) Farchione. He was the youngest of six children, and the only brother for five adoring sisters. He was a loving, exemplary son, brother, husband, father. Dan was loyal, reliable, and always “at the ready” to help his parents, sisters, and friends.
Growing up as the youngest of six children, and the only boy, he was surrounded by loving parents and doting sisters. He was also known as “Danny Boy” as a youngster, “Fuzz” in grade school, high school, and as an adult (we don’t know how this nickname originated) and lovingly “The Prince” in the family. As a kid, he enjoyed lots of creative play with his friends on Brentwood Lane and loved building everything from tables and chairs to skateboards and go-carts.
Dan graduated from Fairport High School and SUNY Cortland with a BS in Economics. Following graduation, he co-founded and operated Turin Swim & Tennis Club in Fairport with his parents. After selling Turin in 1995, Dan launched a successful financial management business.
Also in 1995, Dan married his beautiful wife Marybeth. Their wedding reception at the Genesee Valley Club was legendary. In 2000, Daniel III arrived and in 2002, his Christmas presents arrived in the form of triplet girls, Julea, Mairin and Natalie. For his growing family, he built a fabulous home in 2002 at the top of a hill, surrounded by nature. His adoring children grew up in “Danny World” – a playland complete with hiking trails, an oversized treehouse and dollhouse, go-karts, gators, mini-bikes and a trampoline.
Dan treasured caring for his beautiful family. He beamed with pride when sharing news of their many academic and athletic achievements. He was their anchor, always offering sage advice, including “never pay full price for anything.” Dan was the King of Internet shopping, always finding the highest quality at the best price. His expertise was fondly nicknamed “Danny’s Deals.”
His favorite pastime was cooking and grilling for parties with family and friends. His exquisite Italian pizza oven (a true work of art, delivered to his home directly from Milan) created his most recent cooking pleasures. He eagerly indulged family and friends with fabulous fire-roasted pizzas, sumptuous entrees and even desserts (think over-the-top fire-roasted fresh peach cobbler).
Carrying on Italian family traditions was front and center for Dan, especially making dozens of pizzelles for Christmas to share with family and friends. He proudly taught his children the fine art of pizzelle-making using his maternal grandfather’s cast iron pizzelle maker, complete with an engraved “P” in the center for Palumbo. The cast iron is heavy and making one pizzelle at a time over a gas flame, using his mother’s handwritten pizzelle recipe, was truly a labor of love. Given the sentimental value of his treasured pizzelle iron, he asked his children to carry on this Christmas tradition and “please, don’t ever let the pizzelle iron leave the house.”
Dan cherished his dear friends, near and far. His grade-school, high school and college buddies have many fond memories of his expert leadership and organizational abilities that led to extraordinarily fun times, including jet skiing, pig roasts, huge parties with live music, and great barbeque and seafood feasts.
His precious and trusted family friends, Mark and Colleen Crane, Jill and Don Gress, and Steve and Holly Terzo were true sources of strength for Dan and his family during these most difficult past months.
Dan is predeceased by his parents, and survived by his wife, Marybeth (Mitrano) Farchione; children, Daniel III, Julea, Natalie and Mairin; five sisters, Mary Jean (Gerald)) Gears, Joanne (Richard) Davis, Linda (Richard) Farchione Hawks, Donna (Bryan) Farchione Williams and Sharon (Michael) Farchione-Ross; nine nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. He was also cherished by his dear father-in-law, Vincent Mitrano. He will be sorely missed by his entire extended family and many friends, including his loving two doggies, Lyla and Ruby.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, Jan 23, 2022, 1pm-4pm, at Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Fairport, NY. A Funeral mass will be held Monday, Jan 24, 2022, at 11:00am, at St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY. Covid restrictions apply.
Those who wish to remember Dan in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (panCAN.org).

Some of my most cherished memories of Cortland include Fuzz. He was a wonderful person and a good Man. I was honored to be a groomsman at his wedding to Marybeth. Looking at his photo makes me smile. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Marybeth, Dan III, Julea, Natalie and Mairin.
Well Cousin Danny Boy you will surely be missed . I’m also sure that you have read from afar while on your ‘Prince Danny’ throne your family’s amazing testament to you and know that the story of your life was as beautiful as you. I’m sending ?hug to you and your family .
Fuzz was a trusted friend and an all around great guy. He was the type of person that was always there for his friends, weather to offer advise or just to have a few beers with. We had a lot of great times at his after hour get togethers at Turin. Fuzz was always the voice of reason when the gang got together, he probably saved us a lot of grief with his smart decisions. Fuzz, you’ll me missed so much. Rest In Peace brother. Condolences to his wife Mary Beth and his four children.
Fuzz my friend, you will be so missed by all. I’ll always remember our many nights at Preps, Thirsty’s, or wherever the action was! And all the great parties and crab leg feasts at Turin. You were so wonderful at getting the gang together and having a good time. You then matured (?) to become such a great husband and father. Mary Beth and the kids were so very blessed to have you in their lives. As you were to have them. I’m sure You’ll meet up with Kim and the two of you will have a few laughs at the memories. Rest easy my friend, and God Bless.
I met Fuzz my senior year at Cortland, we became fast friends. We shared some fun times in “Manor North”. To say “Fuzz” was an inspiration is an understatement. He helped many of us understand that there are serious times in life, but always take advantage of the fun times. The years and miles have separated us, but he will always be my friend. I wish his family, peace, and strength through this difficult time.
Fuzz a legendary friend and amazing individual. You will never be forgotten. You have left an ocean of tears from those that loved you. Thanks for a lifetime of friendship. Your quick Witt will never be forgotten. A giant hole has been left in this world. I love ya my Brother. God bless Marybeth and your children.
I will always remember Fuzz from our HS years. He had the best laugh and was such a friendly guy. Prayers to your family. Rest In Peace.
So sorry for your family’s loss. I always remember Fuzz as being so kind and generous to a fault! My thoughts and prayers go out to you all!
My deepest sympathies and condolences to the Farchione family.
I met “Fuzz” at SUNY Cortland. He personality and smile and laugh made us fast frirnd along with several other. Including Mario, Herbie, Schultz, Eric, Pistol Pia, and many others. Fuzz was “The King” and always kind and generous. One Christmas, over 20 years after we graduated , Fuzz sent a copy of six pages of stories and jokes I presented during a “group” dinner we had at our firm. It was a lovely and sweet gesture… to think he saved those hand written pages after all those years really touched me. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I will always cherish the times I had with one of the most genuine friends I ever had. Sincerely, COZ ( Jeff Costello )
I only knew Dan as Fuzz, I honestly didn’t even know his first name. I was dearly sorry to hear of his passing and reading above he leaves quite a legacy. RIP my friend, may your family find peace in all who knew him and loved him. You will certainly be missed.
Fuzz was a Brother who left all of us to soon. He accepted me as I am as did his family. He had a way of making me laugh even when he was breaking my chops. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER FUZZ.
If a man can be judged by qualitites his children possess, Mr. Farchione was a great man. My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Farchione, Daniel, Julea, Mairin, and Natalie.
I can’t tell you how crushed Wendy and I (and Sophie) were to hear the news of Dan’s passing. I will always remember Dan as a wonderful family man. My field hockey friend. He was so proud of all of his kids. And he loved them dearly. Such a great joy to see him over the years at the field hockey games. Marybeth, Natalie, Mairin, Julea and Daniel—please know if there is anything you need from Wendy and I, don’t hesitate to ask. In the meantime, you have our prayers and condolences. I hope God continues to give you strength as you deal with this tremendous loss. And, I hope that your many loving and fond memories of your father/husband will add comfort to your lives. So, so sorry.
I didn’t know Danny very well as he was the youngest Farchione. I am a close friend of his sister, Joanne, and our families/parents were very close as well. My brother only had 4 sisters ahead of him, so Danny was lucky with one more. I know he will be missed and there are no words to express my deep sympathy for all of the Farchiones. Rest in peace,
I’m so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies and condolences to the Farchione family.
It was such a great pleasure getting to know Mr. Farchione through the days of summer tutoring with Dan III. His children were a true blessing and rare gift of inspiration and kindness to the Martha Brown community. They are a beautiful legacy of Dan. My heart goes out to you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers. XXOO
I will always cherish my friendship with Fuzz. I have many fond memories of him from high school and college (cook outs, parties at Turin, Shea Hall, Whiffle Tree)….. but it will be his kind heart that I remember most. Fuzz was a loyal friend, the go-to-guy, and always a shoulder to lean on. He was a class act . My sincerest condolences to his family. ❤️??
So very sorry for your loss. My prayers for peace and His blessings are sent to your family.
Fuzz was a great guy, kind, funny, caring. It was always fun to see him again. My condolences to his family. Fuzz will be missed but never forgotten.
Dan (Fuzz) was my college roommate at Cortland freshman year.
So sorry to hear this bad news!
May his family be blessed with his memory.
My deepest condolences to the entire family and very close friends. . We will cherish the great memories from our FHS and Cortland days. I had not seen Dan for several years since my move to MA in 1985 and was hoping to see him again at a gathering with the FHS gang after my recent return to Rochester area . Our next meeting will now be in a very special place and pray that you and brother Kevin can reconnect, look down and share a smile for us all. RIP good friend.
Marybeth and family, I am so sorry to hear about Dan. I really enjoyed the brief time we had as neighbors on Wallingford. One of the things I will remember about him is he was always in a good mood with a welcoming smile. May you find much comfort in the many wonderful memories you has together.
We built a home in the neighborhood and he and his family we always welcoming. My condolences to his family, so sorry for your loss.
Hugs are great medicine for the soul. They let you know that others care and wrap you up in the comfort of warm hearts. They hit the right note when words cannot. Family and friends of Fuzz, hug much and many during this time. I am sending mine your way from across the states. Fuzz was truly an amazing and witty friend. Though our paths drifted apart after high school the memories will live on forever. Rest peacefully friend!
Marybeth and family our hearts are broken over the news of Dan. We just saw you at Christmas and he looked good. I will always cherish the wonderful memories we have of him. I will never forget having the honor to stand up in your wedding and all the planning that went in to it. Dan was such a great planner down to every last detail. He will be forever missed. Sending our sincere condolences to you and your family. Please know I will always be here for you my dear friend.
My deepest sympathy and prayers for the Farchione family. Dan will be greatly missed.
I only briefly met Dan first when he accompanied Dan III on a campus visit to Alfred University…and I offered his son a job at the library if he chose Alfred (he did). I met him briefly again when he brought two of his triplet daughters to, again, visit the campus. I made the same job offer to Natalie and Mairin if they chose Alfred (and they did). I have come to know Dan vicariously through working with his amazing children. The well-written obituary paints a picture of a much-loved man who in turn loved others and his family profoundly. Words cannot adequately express the sorrow I feel for all of you in your difficult loss. May the love and presence of God surround you all during this difficult time much as the love of your father surrounded you in his presence. Love and hugs for the Farchione family.
