Peter French, 68, passed away after a long-fought battle with esophageal cancer on February 21, 2024.
Born on January 28, 1956, in the village of Shorne, Kent, England to Noah and Eveline (Roots) French. At 18 months old he moved to Higham into a bungalow his father built. Peter attended primary school in Shorne and went on to attend Senior school at Gordon School for Boys. Peter completed an apprenticeship at Aquila MoD testing facility in Bromley. He later went on to become a Electronic Engineer for Rochester Instruments UK. Peter worked abroad living in Saudi Arabia and traveling to many countries around the world. While home on leave he met his beloved wife in 1982 at Falstaff Public House where she worked as a bartender. They courted long distance until they married on September 3, 1983. They went on to have two children, Matthew (1985) and Clare (1987). Peter took a job in Dallas, Texas in 1995 and moved his family to the states. After 6 years the family moved to Seattle, Washington for 18 months. In 2001, he settled in Fairport, NY where he remained. Peters wife Jacqueline battled breast cancer and passed away in December of 2006. In 2008 his first grandchild was born. Peter found being a “Papa” to be the light of his life and spent most of his time doting on his family. When Peter was not spending time with his family he was working with his hands. He was a jack of all trades and loved to keep busy working on home projects. In 2019 Peter was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. Peter fought a hard battle and then “he died.”
Peter asked that we remember him with this quote from Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium:
I’ve lived all five of my acts and I am not asking you to be happy that I must go. I’m only asking that you turn the page, continue reading… and let the next story begin. And if anyone asks what became of me, you relate my life in all its wonder, and end it with a simple and modest “He died.”
Peter was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Jacqueline (Bishop) French. Parents, Noah and Eveline (Roots) French. Sister, Julie (French) Annetts. Peter is Survived by his children, Matthew French and Clare (Matthew) Palmiere. Grandchildren, Jordan Goff, Dalton Palmiere, and Sage Palmiere. Siblings, David French, and Nicola (Peter) Foster.
Peter’s celebration of life will be held on Thursday February 29, 2024 at the Deland House on Main from 4-7pm. 1 E. Church Street Fairport, NY 14450.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider donating to the Lipson Cancer Center in memory of Peter French.

Clare, I will always remember your dad, and your beautiful mom. I believe they are together again, and have shared joy. I’m always there for you…
Have lots of lovely memories spend with cousin Peter and all his siblings, picnics at Gravesend Prom, summer holidays at the bungalow you spoke of. We used to have so much fun, it’s one of my fondest memories.

I worked with Peter since he first came to Qualitrol. I will miss his friendship and his sense of humor. In a world full of characters, he held his own. My condolences to the family.
