Steven French was born in Lewistown, PA December 21,1938 the son of Naomi Ranck French and Donald French. He died in Rochester, NY October 14, 2022 after a brief critical illness.

Steve was a devoted son, a loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring friend.

He was a golfer (Kanandaque club champion and Presidents Cup winner), a published mathematician (Illinois Journal of Mathematics), a systems analyst, a car salesman, a cross country skier, a biker, hiker, reader, solver of problems and a precise successful planner.

Steve coped with increasing physical limitations courageously and without complaint. He remained interested in all things; news, sports, mystery, history, nature and business nearly to his last days.

He leaves the beloveds of his life: his wife Carolyn, his sons Steve and Scott and daughter-in-law Roberta, his daughter Caren and son-in-law Ken, and his grandchildren Garrett, Jonny, Chloe, Adam, Caroline and Andrew.

Steve was a believer. He would say “God is on our side”. He lived his faith.

I am sad to read of Steve’s passing. I worked with him years ago in the automobile business. He was a gentleman and I enjoyed our many conversations. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

    Carolyn and family,
I’m so very sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I was fortunate to have known him, worked with him, and had a very nice friend in Steve..
Steve always talked of his family and the importance of spending time with them. My prayers are with your family, and may he rest in peace in paradise.
May god give you all the strength you need in this very difficult time.

I met Steve in the mid-1990’s at Hastings where we sold vehicles to the public. Steve was a mentor to me as I always admired his professionalism and honesty. While our paths have not crossed in recent years, I remember Steve fondly, and extend my sympathy to Carolyn and extended family in his loss.

Dear Carolyn, I was so sad to read of the passing of your beloved husband. While you always seemed a very private person, your expression whenever Steve was mentioned in conversation simply gushed like a school girl. I am so sorry you must cope with his loss and hope your memories and family will hold you close. You will be in my prayers. Suzanne
