Jean PV Furman
Jean Furman, 64, of Fairport, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 28th, 2026 after a
long illness. Jean was born in 1961, in Hartford, Connecticut, and was raised in nearby Enfield, Connecticut.
She was predeceased by her parents Jeanine (nee Drouin) and Raymond Viniconis.
Jean is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Bill and by their daughter Kaitlin.
Jean received a B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and subsequently worked for NY State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Brevard County, Florida, and
the Kennedy Space Center, during the return-to-launch period following the Challenger disaster.
After starting their family, Jean, Bill and Kaitlin left Melbourne, Florida for the more changeable weather of western NY, where she loved to go exploring through the backroads of the finger lakes.
Jean was a music fan and enjoyed going to many concerts. She was a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and saw him many times over the past thirty years.
Jean’s love of travel began with many family trips while growing up and continued into her adult life. Among her favorite places were Florida, San Diego, Sedona, Colorado, Iceland, Sweden, and the U.K. Early in their marriage Bill and Jean travelled throughout England, Scotland and Wales visiting many castles and landmarks. She especially loved her yearly spring trip to Lake George and living in Fairport.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lollypop farms, the original home of Jean’s loving friends Luna, Doppler, Cinder, Hemingway, Tiki and Tango. https://www.lollypop.org/ways-to-give

Jean was one of my dearest friends for almost thirty years. Through good times and bad times, we were there for each other. Her wit and her humor lifted me up many times. I will miss her so much. Sending my heartfelt sympathies to Bill and Kaitlin.
I am sorry for your loss, Bill. You have many years of beauty that you may reference with Jean.
Thoughts and prayers with you all. The extended crew here in Rochester can’t stop thinking of you Bill, and Kaitlyn. Much love.
