David’s ten year battle with multiple myeloma came to an end with his death on April 22, 2021 at the age of 48. He is pre-deceased by his father, Stanley R. Gawlik PhD and brother-in-law Brian Broomfield. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Gawlik, sisters Maureen Broomfield and Kathleen Gawlik (Paul Bradway), brothers Christopher, Patrick (JoAnna) and Daniel, several nieces and nephews. The youngest of six children, he enjoyed the doting of caring siblings and had a happy, sociable spirit. He learned important life lessons as a member of the YMCA Leader’s Club and the Outward Bound Outdoor Education Experience. He was proud of his memberships in the Egypt fire department explorer program and later of completing the Volunteer Firefighter Training Course. He made many friends while a member of the Fairport Fire Department and more recently the Macedon Center Fire Department. After high school Dave loved working summers at the Fish Hatchery in Powder Mills Park. He was employed at the Wegmans Meat Processing Facility and Bakery. Besides being with family Dave enjoyed back yard fire pit gatherings with friends, road trips around New York State, working on crossword puzzles, listening to all kinds of music from The Marshall Tucker Band and Country Music to Bach, but fishing was his favorite pastime. Dave was generous, thoughtful and kind to everyone.
Calling Hours Monday 4-6PM at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport. Funeral Mass Tuesday 11AM at Church of the Assumption, Fairport. It may also be livestreamed at https://cota.church/livestream.
