Louise A. Gentile (Masciangelo) was born October 8, 1930. She left this world in peace with family by her side late on 1-14-22. Louise was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald of 58 years, and leaves two sons, Peter (Debra) and Anthony, Six Grandchildren, Alyssa & Erica, Jake, Justin & Morgan Gentile. Louise joins in heaven, her grandson Nicholas Gentile.

Louise graduated from Fairport High School in 1948, then worked at Allstate Insurance where she met the love of her life when he came in to make an insurance payment.  After the birth of her sons Peter in 1963 and Anthony in 1965, she remained a stay at home mom managing a busy household full of numerous activities and sports schedules. Louise was a tremendous cook and would have a freshly cooked meal available each and every day, regardless of what was going on. Louise returned to the work force once again with the Fairport School District and assisted in food preparation and monitoring at a number of schools in the district where she enjoyed time with the children.

Louise traveled with Jerry many places and owned a winter home in Florida that was sold upon the arrival of her grandchildren, because she couldn’t stand being away from them. Louise sacrificed her self-interests for those of her boys and grandchildren and would always accommodate others needs before her own. When the grandkids were out and about they knew they could count on Nana for a special treat or to make them one of her famous sandwiches. We will forever be grateful for the love, prayers and support received from Louise throughout Nicholas’ life. When Anthony’s Triplets were born she took a shift at the NICU unit to make sure the kids were never left alone for extended periods of time upon their birth. She loved attending the baseball, softball, football, cheerleading, concerts and dance recitals of all the grandkids. She loved flowers and gardening and was always a useful resource in finding out flowers names and the care thereof.

Louise was an amazingly strong, positive woman who was devoted to our Lord and had a deep religious faith which she celebrated at the Church of The Assumption. Family was the center of her life and she was the center of our Family. Her faith in the Lord Fueled her strength and selfless courage throughout the final days of her life.

The Gentile family would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for the compassionate care offered at Elderwood Village At Fairport especially Amy, Athena, Bonnie, Antonia, Gale, Diane, Sherri, and Lisa. We appreciate you all going above and beyond the call of duty in keeping mother comfortable.

A public prayer service will take place on Friday, January 21st at 9:30AM at White Haven Cemetery in Pittsford (All Seasons Chapel).

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society 1100 Goodman St. South, Rochester NY 14620.

I believe I knew Louise back in early 60’s when I worked with her sister, Lucy, at Monroe Savings Bank. I remember her so well because she was so femine and pretty, and was always friendly. I was much younger than the sisters, but they included me for lunch a couple times. May Louise rest in peace and God bless her beautiful family.

Most of my memories with you took place at the dinner table. Which mainly consisted of you and Papa telling us funny stories from the past and Justin asking for more food. I remember right after we would finish your famous sandwiches I would be stuffed, and you never failed to go into the pantry and grab cookies or insist that we have a bowl of ice cream. You always wanted what was best for us grandkids, even if that meant endless rounds of food until just the sight of a cookie would make me sick. Even in the nursing home you were always more worried about us telling me to drive safe and look out for ice when the only thing you should have worried about was yourself. I can’t leave out the prank calls we used to do on you and Papa when we were kids claiming we were a pizza shop and you guys would go along with it just to make us laugh. I’ll never forget the good times we had, love you Nana you will be missed.
