Marilyn R. Giles passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Barberton, Ohio, and raised in Lyndhurst, Marilyn met her lifelong partner, Peter Giles, in high school. They married in 1960 and shared 65 joyful years together.
Marilyn attended Ohio Wesleyan and brought warmth, humor, and a deep devotion to family and friends into every chapter of her life. She loved sailing on Canandaigua Lake, attending theater performances, entertaining guests, and driving her spirited Miata. Her golden retrievers were beloved companions, and her blueberry pancakes earned her the affectionate nickname “Miss Blueberry.”
She delighted in adventures with her roving family, traveling to Cape Cod, Washington D.C., Vermont, Cleveland, Cornwall, Australia, and Saint Augustine—always with her children and grandchildren at the heart of the journey.
Marilyn was predeceased by her brother George Redman and felt deeply connected to him through his sons Tanner and Dane and her sister-in-law Mary Mills.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Peter Giles; her children Scott Giles (Kate Lalley) and Liz Giles Hawkins (Andrew Hawkins); and her cherished grandchildren Abagael Giles (Levi Keszey), Sam Giles, Eliza Giles, Charis Button (Steven Button), Josiah Hawkins, and Daniel Hawkins.
She will be remembered as a strong, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who met life’s challenges with grace and joy. She is loved.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held in Spring 2026, when family and friends will be invited to gather and honor her memory together. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Lollypop Farm.

Dear Pete, Scott and Liz,
That photo brings back so many memories, from the neighborhood “dinner parties” to our Father-Daughter camping trips. That grin while peering over her glasses at you, that’s Marilyn Giles!

Peter the last time I saw you and Marilyn was at Pittsford Dairy and you shared that lovely Marilyn had the same problem my husband had..you told me..my husband Mat passed 12/21/2024 and you said Marilyn would be close behind..so sorry for your loss..it’s not an easy path…Linda Adams
Peter et al. We have so many memories from Clarkes Crossing! The 1976 neighborhood parade
was a major highlight. I know how much Marilyn loved her dogs. Grief never leaves, but memories come in and can be warm and fuzzy.
