On Sunday August 23, the sun set on the life of Priscilla Gorcica, age 83 of Fairport NY. She was born on March 5th, 1943, in Wallington NJ to her loving parents Frank and Stacia Kopec.
Pris attended Pope Pius High School where she was captain of the cheerleading team, had lots of friends and was an avid writer. In fact, her friend Wanda used to refer to her as the Erma Bombeck of her time as her stories always made them laugh.
In 1961 she married Gary Gorcica and proudly became a Marine Corp wife. They lived on various Marine bases and then in 1968 moved to Fairport NY where they raised their two sons.
Pris worked at the Fairport Post Office as a mail carrier for over 20 years where she cultivated many cherished friendships with both colleagues and customers.
Pris loved attending her son’s football games where she famously rang her cowbell. Her cheers could be heard both in the stands and on the field. Pris loved the theater, cooking polish food, socializing with friends (especially Mary Jo, Betty, and Bev), and spending summer vacations at the Jersey shore where she loved relaxing on the beach, basking in the sun, and taking long walks on the boardwalk.
Pris is survived by her son Jason Gorcica (Colleen), son Greg Gorcica, Michelle Gorcica, Grandchildren – Kelsey Stevens (Justin), Jessie Kramer (Jordan), Riley Gorcica, Cyrus Gorcica, Great Grandchildren Remington and Sylvie Stevens, her brother Damian Kopec, niece Stephanie Baker (Chad), nephew David Kopec (Kavetha) and her great niece and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Gary, parents Frank and Stacia Kopec, and sister – in – law Sandy Kopec.
A celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 4th, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Bocaccinis, Fairport NY. Please stop in to share a story, a smile, or just to say hello. Pris loved bright colors so please feel free not to wear black.
The following poem is in honor of Pris’s love of the Jersey shore.
The tide recedes but leaves behind the bright seashells on the sand.
The sun sets down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, yet it echoes on in sweet refrains.
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.

My favorite letter carrier, (tied with her son Jason). My DOT field offices were in the old OBrien offices on Rte 31, now a carwash. Priscilla always lit up my office when she dropped off the mail. What a fun lady. Im sorry for your loss Jason. Dave. (tied with Joanne who sends her sympathy).
Our thoughts and condolences to the Gorcica family! We didn’t know Pris well but she has wonderful family members that keep her loves and traditions alive.

Fondest memory of your mom was at your house at prom time. She drove her car down the driveway with all the corsage containers scattered on top of her car.

Jason and family..sorry for your loss..I worked with Priscilla for many years at the Post Office and she always made it more enjoyable. We had fun times getting together with the old crew at the Ground Round after work.
We have such wonderful memories of Priscilla and Gary many years ago when we lived on Buckwheat drive in Fairport. I can remember her walking down the street with a jug of Carlo Rossi Wine ready to spend the evening just laughing and talking. She was a beautiful fun, loving person whom everyone loved May she rest in peace.
So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was such a great friend to my mom Mary Jo and a big personality from my growing up in Fairport. I hope you can cherish memories of her and that she can finally rest with a polka playing & a pierogi on her plate ❤️
