Joan Meagher Gordon, age 88, of Fairport, passed away on August 25th. Born on January 4, 1938, Joan was the daughter of John and Alice Meagher. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Mercy High School in 1956 – working at Star Market to help cover her tuition.
While raising 5 children, Joan held various sales and administrative positions – her last of which was working for her brother Gary in his photography business. Joan was also an avid gardener, finding joy and peace in nurturing the plants and flowers that surrounded her home.
She is survived by her children Glenn (Carroll), Bob, Donna, Kris and Kim. Joan also leaves behind the grandchildren she cherished deeply – Nick, Kailey, Danielle (Joey), Jonnie, Meghan and Matt – as well as her great-grandchildren Bentley and Francesca, who brought her tremendous joy. She is also survived by her beloved sister Diane Lapp (Chauncey), her brother Gary and her sister-in-law Mary Pat Meagher.
Joan was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Larry; her brothers Bill Meagher and Jerry Meagher; and her sisters-in-law Joanne Meagher and Sue Meagher.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Shepherd Home for their compassionate care during Joan’s final days.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Joan was such a sweet woman who was easy to love. I feel thankful, grateful and blessed to have known her . My sincerest condolences to all her family at the loss of their wonderful Mom, grandmother and sister. You are all in my prayers .
