Stephen Gosier, 69, of Victor, NY passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle, his children Elizabeth and Adam and their partners Brian and Deyaneira,  his brother Daniel and partner Judith,  sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends and former work colleagues.

Steve graduated from SUNY Canton, where he was a proud member of the ZAP fraternity—a brotherhood that shaped him and provided friendships that lasted throughout his lifetime.

Steve worked for various companies over his professional lifetime, including Carrier, Barber Colman, Invensys Building Systems and Trane. He also acquired work experience in a number of positions as applications engineer, operations manager, and service sales account manager with leadership responsibilities.

Outside of work, Steve was passionate about sports, especially ice hockey, skiing and in particular golf which he played throughout his lifetime. Steve coached numerous youth hockey teams, enjoying watching his son play and teaching youth the game.

He was extremely sociable and approachable and knew how to strike up a conversation with most anyone, curious to learn more about them and include them in his life.

He liked to travel and also to winter in the south where he could enjoy the sunshine and get in some good golfing and meet up with friends.

His wife and children will pay tribute to him on July 2, 2025 to celebrate his life and connections to others, as he would have liked.

All those who knew Steve will miss his happy spirit.

Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

We were born before the wind

Also younger than the sun

Ere the Bonnie boat was won

As we sailed into the mystic

Hark, now hear the sailors cry

Smell the sea and feel the sky

Let your soul and spirit fly

Into the mystic

And when that foghorn blows, I will be coming home

Yeah, when the foghorn blows, I wanna hear it

I don’t have to fear it

And I wanna rock your Gypsy soul

Just like way back in the days of old

And magnificently we will fold into the mystic

  1. You have always been a great friend. A best friend. I always smile when thinking of our golf trips together.
    Peace my brother.

  2. Dear Beth
The loss of a parent leaves a void that words cannot fill. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, and may you find comfort in the arms of those who care about you.
Hugs to you, your mom and brother.

  3. I remember Steve as a kind, gentle soul who always took an interest in what was going on in my life. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy.

  4. Rest in peace old friend. I’ll always remember you teaching me how to ride the 90 Kawasaki you had in High School and that Dodge dart you drove. You were one of the first friends I made when I moved to B-ville. You will always be the Beaver to us buddy!

  5. I’m heartbroken over the loss of my longtime friend and sales team leader, Steve. He was a mentor, a steady presence, and a truly great guy. Steve helped shape my early days in sales, always patient, always encouraging. I’ll never forget him coming to my son’s hockey and lacrosse games, just being there like he always was. I had the honor of standing with him the day he retired from Trane and was sad, but this loss hurts even more. My heart is with Michelle, Elizabeth, and Adam. He was one of the best.

  6. Godspeed Pierre. My deepest condolences to Michelle, Elizabeth and Adam. Here’s to brother Steve, the best of them all.

  7. I graduated from Canton with Steve and he was a good friend. We golfed together at Foxfire years ago when he would check on his rental property and come in for work reasons. Great stick! Good guy. I want to extend my condolences to his family. Remember the good times!

  8. I would like to extend my condolences to Michelle, Elizabeth and Adam. I met Steve when I moved to Rochester in 1978. As a ZAP brother we quickly became good friends. I’ll never forget the moments we shared together golfing (he earned the nickname Drano for his stellar putting). Steve was an accomplished golfer – good enough to play in the RDGA golf championship. As avid Syracuse fans we attended the Big East Basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden, NYC for 11 years. He loved the Garden and loved going to Bleeker St. for late night live music afterwards. I’ll never forget him standing on a chair at The Bitter End venue and singing “Whats Going On” by Marvin Gaye at 2 in the morning. I’ll remember Steve as a great friend, husband and father. I will miss him dearly.

  9. As Joe’s best friend for many years I knew Steve quite well and what stands out was his gentle soft spoken voice and kind nature. He had alot of fun in his life golfing tons all over Rochester, going to weekend golf tournaments and many road trips with his friends to NYC. He loved his family and Michelle was such an attentive wife. My condolences to the Gosier family for their loss.
