David S. Guild

David Scott Guild of East Rochester, NY, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, August 24th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born in Limestone, Maine, on May 5th, 1961, to Patricia and James Guild. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathy, son, Josh (Elizabeth), daughter, Lindsay (Dylan), and granddaughters, his “Cuties”, Kylie, Charlotte, Gianna, Aubrielle, Milani, and Jolene. His sister, Shari (Todd), sister, Wendy (Mike), and cherished niece and nephews, and many other family members and friends.

Dave will be remembered by his many passions. All who knew him knew how much he loved being a small aircraft pilot. Dave was all about planes. At the age of 19, Dave got his pilot’s license at Tamiami Airport in Miami, Florida. He loved taking family and friends on plane rides to Letchworth, over the Gananda house, and over Sodus Bay on the 4th of July to watch the fireworks. Dave loved skiing, camping in the ADK, golfing, and bowling. He was also a huge Miami Dolphins fan, even in the middle of Bills country!

Dave was an avid traveler all throughout his life. During childhood, Dave’s family lived in various locations all around the world, including England and Germany. Into his adult life, this continued, enjoying locations such as Montreal, the Bahamas, Key West, Las Vegas, Texas, San Francisco, Alaska, and many more. Dave’s love of music was broad, and his favorites were Jimmy Buffett and Queen.

Another attribute that Dave was known for was his sense of humor, from always being the first person to crack a joke to annoying you with his crazy chicken noises. He was sure to always make you laugh! Many would say that he had a smile that lit up the room.

Family was very important to Dave, and he always loved when everyone got together to celebrate life’s precious moments.  There are many dear friends that Dave would lovingly consider family. From backyard fires, camping, fishing, birthday dinners, and exploring the world, many of his friends were by his side on these adventures.  In more recent years, there is a very special group of staff at the Jewish Home who took exceptional care of Dave. He called them his family, and we wanted to express our sincere appreciation as we could not have done it without you, especially our Essence.

Dave will be deeply missed, but we are comforted by the legacy of love that he has left us all.

  1. I got to spend a little bit of time getting to know David during my employment at The Jewish Home of Rochester. While I was only here a short time, I always made sure to check in on David and say hello. He was a very special person and will be missed by many. I will always remember his love of the Miami Dolphins!

  2. Dave was so kind to all! His sister, Wendy, and I were best friends when they lived in Miami, he would pop his head in her room when we hanging out and would ask if we wanted to go with him to the little Tamiami airport close to our homes so he could practice “touch and gos.” We must have been about 12 years old, and he was happy to have us be his companion, eager to show us his skills. He was a good pilot, and an amazing person! 💔
