Peg passed away peacefully on June 11, 2020. She was born in Lockport, NY on June 16, 1925. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Thomas E. Hallifax, Peg leaves two adult children, Tom and Bob, five grandchildren and many great and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her dear friend from high school, and maid of honor of her wedding, Gloria. Peg was a devoted wife and mother and was loved by her family and friends.
Having been born in June, Peg’s father called her “Bug,” a name family knew her by for these many years. It is fitting she has returned home in her month of June as well.
She traveled with Tom, a US Air Force pilot, to a variety of countries and cities. Once Tom retired, they moved with their two children back to Lockport, NY, and their beloved summer home in Honeoye, later residing in Florida. After Tom’s passing in 2002, Peg moved to Canandaigua, NY. She enjoyed time with the Red Hat Society, friends, and family.
Peg was a life long artist. She left behind a treasure trove of oil paintings and ceramics, most of which were scattered across the country to her many surviving relatives when she broke up housekeeping a few years ago.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff, doctors and nurses at the Interlakes Oncology in Canandaigua who successfully treated her rare blood disorder for many, many years. This allowed Peg to live a normal life for such a long time. A very special thank you goes to the doctors and nurses, and especially the 2H staff at Fairport Baptist Home for their extraordinary care and compassion in the last 2 ½ years of her journey. At the end, Peg was home there, and she knew these wonderful folks as her family.
