Karilyn J. Hansen

She is pre-deceased by her husband David Hansen, sister Ruth Sidall and grandson Nathan Dawson. Karilyn lived a full life to the milestone age of 90 filled with a growing family and many generations of friends she met along her journey. She is survived by four daughters and one son, Cathy (Barb) Hansen, Cheryl (Tom) O’Sullivan, Cindy (John) Dawson, Linda (Bill) Creen, Todd (Kim) Hansen; nine grandchildren Kelcey (Nick) Bestine, Patrick and Hillary O’Sullivan, Olivia (Kalervo) Hyyppa, Connor (Nina) Dawson, Dillon (Kelsey) Creen, Meghan Creen, Natalie and Grace Hansen, four great-grandchildren, Abby and Clare Bestine, Sonny Dawson and Georgia Creen: sisters Marilyn Marquis, Judy Link and sister-in-law, Karen Larnard.
Karilyn had many interests and was active in her community with creating a Garden Club, teaching cooking classes for the local parks department, volunteering at election polling locations, Highland Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and as a volunteer at Lollipop Farm. She was employed as a substitute Home Economics teacher, the manager of the Men’s Department at Sibley’s, and worked as the gift shop manager at the Highlands in Pittsford where she retired.
She will be remembered for her stubborn determination, her resilience to overcome the odds against her and for the deep love she had for her family, her cats, puzzles and the Buffalo Bills.
A celebration of life and it will take place at Jeremiah’s Tavern, 2164 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road on April 25th from 5pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lollipop Farm, in Victor New York.

Cindy & John, I am so very sorry for the loss of mom and mother in law. She truly was a sweet lady and enjoyed chatting with her when I would see her. Rest Easy Nanny, we love you!

I did not know Karilyn for very long. We were neighbors. She was the sweetest and most friendly person I’ve ever met. She used to leave cat food for my cat and a little candy bar for me. I feel blessed to have been her neighbor, even though it was for a brief moment in time. God bless her. Heaven just got a true Angel.
