Rochester: The Reverend Gerald F. Harris died December 16, 2013 at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eunice and his sons, Carl (Kathy) of Palmyra, Drew Scott of New York City: grandsons, Charles (Kelly), Gerald F. Harris II, and great-grandson, Jackson.
Gerald served five years in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Detached Enlisted Men’s List – Recruiting and Induction Service, in the Combat Engineers and with the Office of the Army and Navy Liquidation Commission in Italy. He graduated from Georgetown College Cum Laude and received a Masters degree
from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in 1951.
For thirtysix (36) years he served United Methodist Churches in Central New York and retired from University United Methodist Church, Buffalo, NY in 1995. Rev. Harris was loved by the laity of the churches he served. After retirement Gerald and Eunice traveled extensively in Great Britain, Europe, Canada and the U.S.
Memorial Services are at the discretion of his family. Interment will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery, Abingdon, VA. Memorials may be made to any church or organization one may desire.
