Beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. Eleanor made her family her priority and took great pleasure in raising her children. She is predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, the love of her life, Frederick Heier.
She is survived by her 6 children: Cherie (Garry) McGuire, Fred Heier Jr., Barb (Doug) Crawford, Cindy (Paul) DeRusso, Nancy (Larry) Shabe, and Pete (Traci) Heier; 10 grandchildren: Garry McGuire, Michael McGuire, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Burton, Matt Crawford, Katie (Dave) Ghidiu, Mike (Michelle) DeRusso, Carrie Shabe, Joseph Shabe, Craig Heier, and Ellie Heier.; and 6 great grandchildren: Maximilien & Madison McGuire, Brayden Schlicker & Gianna & Brenna Crawford, and Rowan Heier.
Eleanor volunteered with the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and then with her Seton group of St. Mary’s Hospital for over 50 years. She was active in the Catholic Church: Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Mercy in Brussels, and St. John of Rochester in Fairport. She served on the board of the Catholic Women’s Club of Rochester for many years. Eleanor enjoyed flower arranging and was active in several garden clubs over the years. She took up golf once her children were grown and kept playing in leagues until she was in her 80s and ran out of golf partners. Eleanor maintained her childhood love of cards and enjoyed playing bridge into her 90s. Eleanor will best be remembered for her love of family and the many cherished friendships that she maintained throughout her life. The family would like to thank The Friendly Home for their excellent medical care and gracious support for our mother.
Calling Hours Tuesday July 12, 2022 10-11AM at St. John of Rochester Church 8 Wickford Way, Fairport. Followed by a Funeral at 11AM.

Eleanor & Fred were great friends of my late folks, Laura & Bob Wetmore. …. In my younger years, I remember the four going out for dinner. My mom would host the Bridge club now and then. … I went to grammar school withBarb, and was in scouts with Fred. The Brighton families were really close in those days, and it was a lot of fun ’60’s! … Condolences, and prayers, from the Wetmore family

Mrs. Heier was a very special lady. I spent many many hours at the Heier home on Cohasset Drive, next-door to my own. I remember her lovely flower arrangements. More than that, I remember her warmth and loving care of her family. I always felt at home there. My heartfelt condolences to Cherie, Fred, Barb, Cindy, Nancy and Peter and their families.
