Robert Hinton passed away suddenly on November 4, 2024, at the age of 75. A devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather, and brother, Bob will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family.
Bob is survived by wife of 45 years Debbie; children Kelli (Nick) Piehler, Mark (Tamara Farmer) Hinton, Ellen (Sharif) Eassa; sisters Pattie Hinton and Barbara (Wesley) Hinton-Galligan; grandchildren Jonathan, Brynn, Robin, and Eric; brother in law Jim Romano; along with many neighbors and colleagues who loved him.
His passion for trains was one of his greatest joys; he was an avid train enthusiast who could often be found enjoying his model train collection. Bob also had a love of Corvettes; taking great pride in the one he rebuilt. He loved being on the water, where he spent many happy days boating or floating in the pool.
A Mechanical Engineer, Bob loved to tinker with engines and motors; he always had a curiosity about how things work. His career at MTR brought him immense fulfillment, as he loved his job and the people he worked with.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The American Heart Association or Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum.
