April Jean Holtz
April passed away peacefully on November 28th at Shepherd Home in Penfield NY, after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. April is pre-deceased by her father Dave Venton, and her mother Carol Venton. She is survived by her husband Steve Holtz, son Stevie Hartman, stepson Greg Holtz, grandchildren Margaret & Hayes Hartman and Carter & Evan Holtz, siblings Vicki Venton, Dee (Dan) Skelton, Brian (Bonnie) Venton, Traci (Jerry) Totsline, brother-in-law Alan Porteous, goddaughters Christi Doreen and Susan Porteous, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving canine companion Sandia.
April was born in Syracuse in 1952. In her young life she lived in Tully NY, Camp Lejeune NC, and Webster NY. Her family moved to Fairport in 1963 where April spent her teen years and graduated from Fairport High School in 1970. April then spent the majority of her adult life in Fairport. April and Steve built a beautiful home along the Erie Canal where they resided for their 30 years of marriage. Their home is known by many and has often become the site where friends drop by for a quick chat as they walk on the tow path, or the party spot for large gatherings.
April was proud of her career at Hewlett Packard where she retired after 25 years of service.
One of the highlights of April’s life is when she helped raise her 4 grandchildren, as she watched them while their parents were at work. She loved them with all her heart. These were busy years, but she wouldn’t have traded this time for anything in the world.
April was a kind and generous soul. She could always be counted on to help out when someone needed it. She was always the one to show up when someone was sick or hurt. She cared so much for everyone. She had an ease about her and a beautiful smile. She had a knack for conversation and made friends instantly. She will be dearly missed by all.

April was such a brilliant light. She was a sweet social person with a radiant soul from my recall. I remember her being an art student, a creative, full of positiveness and life. She went out of her way to always say hello to me in the halls at Minevra Deland high school. She was a very kind hearted person. Rest in peace April Venton

The Venton house on Briggs Avenue was the center of our universe for a number of years. I hold those special memories very dearly. I was very privileged to know April and her family. April’s memory is a blessing.
