Kent Byers Horn passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 26, 2026. He is preceded to heaven by his parents, Stanley and Evelyn Horn and nephew, Eric Kurdzel.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Pat; daughters, Tara (Stephen) Selvaggio and Janine (Wayne) Pettay; granddaughters, Carly Avery, Haley Avery, Claire Pettay and Caroline Pettay; sister, Jane Kurdzel; sister-in-laws Tina Barone and Flora (Dave) Evans, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Born in 1939 in Mansfield, Ohio, Kent graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963. He lived in California while working for Lockheed before ultimately settling down in Rochester, NY to work for Eastman Kodak. He was fortunate to retire at the age of 52. He spent many years wintering in Brownsville, TX with his wife. Together they traveled throughout the United States and took their family on many wonderful vacations. Kent could build anything, and you could often find him working on a home improvement project or tinkering in the garage. He loved antique cars and spent years remodeling a 1930 Ford Model A as well as a 1953 Chevy truck. He was an active member of the Fairport Baptist Church and a volunteer of the Advent House. Kent loved helping others.
A Celebration of Life honoring Kent will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial service at White Haven All Seasons Chapel (1:00pm), followed by a celebration at Cobblestone on Main (3:00-5:00pm). All who knew and loved Kent are welcome to attend.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for the time he was in their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

I am sorry I didn’t get to know Kent for a long time as he was such a sweet guy. You were all so lucky to have each other. So happy to be able to be neighbors with you. My deepest condolences to the entire family.

I was so saddened to hear of Kent’s passing. I worked with him for years at Kodak. He and I were also members of the infamous “Ship of Fools” gang, and we spent many years getting together for dinner and reminiscing about work, family, and of course vintage cars.
