In Memory of Earl V. Jackson May 30, 1929 – January 10, 2025

Earl Jackson of Fairport, NY passed away on January 10, 2025 at the age of 95. Earl is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elnore Taylor Jackson, and their children Deborah Jackson, Linda Riesman, Carol Jackson, Jill (Chris) Warren, Nancy (Brett) Berry and AnnMarie (Dean) Kennedy, Steven (Lori) Larrabee and Kate (David) Rivera, along with seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and twin great-grandchildren on the way.

Earl was born and raised in North Syracuse, and earned an engineering degree from Syracuse University. He moved his family to Penfield, NY, working first for Bausch & Lomb and then for Xerox. During his career as an optical engineer, he and his team were credited with 17 patents.

Earl developed a love of jazz at a young age, and was an avid bicyclist and tennis player. He continued to play tennis even into his 90s. His life-long hobbies included pen & ink drawing, photography, and tinkering in his wood shop. He and Elnore built a log cabin on Seneca Lake and have many fond memories of time with family and friends gathering there. Earl and Elnore have enjoyed 35 years in the village of Fairport, porch sitting and taking dog walks. Fairport’s historical homes and architecture were the subject of many of Earl’s photographs and drawings over the years. Earl lived a rich, full life, celebrated by his loving family and friends.

Family will receive friends at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford – Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY on Saturday, January 25th from 12-1 pm, with a memorial service at 1pm, followed by an informal gathering at his home.

    What a handsome man. I wish I could thank him for raising one of my best friends. My heart is with all of you as you navigate life with this tremendous loss.

    He was still lobbing balls til the end, fighting every diagnosis they gave him. He was always a kind, gentle, resourceful man with a surprising sense of humor. He will always be only a thought away. Fly high, Earl.
