Peter Hamilton Jameson, 63, of Pittsford, NY, left this earth much too soon after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his adoring family on May 16th, 2025. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Alison, of 40 years, his four children, Hawk (Olivia Harris), Skylar (Greg Klotz), Slater, and Tanner, and his two grandchildren, River (3) and Willow (1).

Born on All Saint’s Day to Barbara and William Jameson, Pete spent his early years with his three older siblings, Judy, Scott, and Tom who lovingly referred to him as “Baby Ween.” His favorite memories growing up were playing with his beloved dog Shadow in the woods behind his house in Powder Mill Park, woods he would one day explore with his own children. Pete was an accomplished athlete, captaining his football team at Pittsford Mendon, setting records in track and field, and competing in basketball. To this day, he holds the record for the fastest 880 relay (though he would tell you to ignore the fact that this race was discontinued the following year). Off the field, he excelled in math and science, but he would argue his greatest scholastic achievement was narrowly passing his English regents exam (he struggled with dyslexia). He was also a man of music, playing trombone from elementary through high school. To Pete, however, all these accomplishments paled in comparison to finding the love of his love life and falling in love with her at the junior prom, commencing 45 years of undying love and friendship.

Pete studied at Union college and joined Sigma Chi fraternity, serving as vice president his junior year. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in electrical engineering and married his best friend, Alison, two weeks later. After securing a job at Eastman Kodak, the company saw Pete’s potential for leadership, sending him to complete his MBA from the University of Rochester to return as a VP in project management. This kicked off a storied career that spanned across various industries including photography, imaging technology, and augmented reality. Pete left his mark on every project he worked on by encouraging his team to take calculated risks and push the envelope on emerging technologies. This passion for exploring new frontiers led Pete to the mountains of Geneva Switzerland with Kodak, to the shores of San Francisco with Osterhout Design Group, and finally back to Rochester with Vuzix.

Pete and Alison instilled this eternal spirit of adventure in their kids when they relocated the whole family (cat and dog included) to Europe in 2000. There they created countless memories, visiting historical sites throughout Europe and learning to ski on weekend trips in the Jura mountains and Swiss Alps. Ever the supportive father, Pete also collectively traveled thousands of miles to cheer on his kids’ soccer games, band recitals, and musical productions. His supportive nature extended beyond his nuclear family as he coached youth basketball in the inner city of Rochester with pastor and friend Anthony Majors at Lake Avenue Baptist Church and also coached little league baseball for kids of all ages and nationalities during his time in Geneva. Through the Fresh Air Program, Pete also acted as a summer father to Michael Lopez for years while he was growing up. Pete and Alison still consider Michael family to this day.

A renaissance man who never idled, Pete truly embodied the spirit of DIY throughout his life. From painting houses in college to building entire decks by hand, he always found a project to

work on. Even right up until his diagnosis, Pete worked tirelessly refurbishing the family cottage on Keuka lake, creating a beautiful place for them to gather for generations to come. Pete was kind, funny, loving, a dedicated husband and father, and a fierce friend. He will be terribly missed.

Calling Hours will be held Monday, June 2ndfrom 3-6 PM at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport, NY 14450) with services to follow, Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:00 AM at First Rochester Church (175 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, NY, 14618).

To honor Pete’s gratitude to the amazing nurses who cared for him throughout his illness, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the DAISY Foundation.

  1. Peter was an amazing man, married to an amazing woman (my cousin) and they were blessed with four children and a beautiful life. Very sad for his early passing. Life is precious, every moment! Everyone who knew Peter was enriched and inspired by his spirit. May he rest in peace.

  2. Pete and I worked in the same group at Kodak for awhile. Our boss, Ron Crandall had a team party for “the varsity” at Rons house on Lake Ontario. Pete and I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to master Ron’s wind surfer. No luck, but all the other party goers were enjoying our efforts!

  3. My condolences to the Jameson family.

  5. I just saw Pete last August at the PMHS meetup in Pittsford, this is such a tragedy. I did not know him well but he seemed like a really good guy. I wish I had known him better. I was on his football team in high school for two years, I remember him as a prodigious athlete and loyal teammate. My sincere condolences to his family.

  8. I am so very sorry to hear about Pete’s passing! I worked for Pete at Kodak in the Marketing Division. He was a great boss, kind, fun and very understanding and caring. I had to leave work in a minute due to my dad’s failing health, on many days. Pete was very supportive and told me family comes first. RIP Pete

  9. I always enjoyed meeting or travelling with Pete on Kodak business. He was knowledgable and willing to discuss any concerns I had and also had a great sense of humor. I remember when my girls were young you(Alison) gave us one of your kittens that we enjoyed very much. I hope you and your children can carry on in the joy of having shared Pete’s life.

  10. Peter and Alison were near neighbours of ours in Geneva and we attended the same church. What I remember most is the laughter whenever we were together. They were only in Geneva for a short period but they were great friends. Peter’s passing is tempered only by knowing that he has an returned to his father in heaven.

  11. Peter and Alison were neighbors many years ago. Remember them well. How sad is his early passing. May he rest in peace!
