Jameson, William G. (Bill)

William Graham Jameson (Bill) was born April 29,1929 in Rochester, NY, to
Marion Graham Jameson and Harold O. Jameson. Two years later his brother,Tom, joined the family.

Bill grew up on St. Paul Blvd. in Irondequoit with Lake Ontario as his back yard. His grandfather, the rear admiral, taught him to sail, igniting Bill’s life long love of the sport. In his youth, he sailed all over Lake Ontario and later became a life member of the Canandaigua Yacht Club.

Both patriotism and an understanding of the value of the GI Bill, led Bill to lie about his age and enlist in the US Army during WWII. In recent years he participated in an Honor Guard trip to the Washington, DC World War II Memorial and a Soaring Valor trip to the World War II Museum in New
Orleans.

Bill’s career was in the world of accounting and finance. He was manger of accounting operations for Taylor Instrument Company, Vice President of Finance for the Nalge Corporation, and Corporate Controller of Sybron. For many years he volunteered at the Rochester Episcopal Home, served on the
board of directors of Medical Motor Services, was a past vestry member at Christ Church Pittsford, a Little League coach, and a long time and proud member of the American Legion Rayson Miller Post 899.

An arranged date to an Irondequoit High School dance led to a 68 year long marriage to his beloved Barbara. They moved to Pittsford, NY in 1951 to raise their family. A devoted father to Judy (Don Kellogg), Scott (Maggie), Tom (Donna), and Peter (Alison) for Bill and Barbara, family always came
first. Over the years, their pride and love grew to include their precious grandchildren: Tom Adair, Abby Adair Reinhard, Carrie Adair Boulus, Greg Jameson, Christopher Jameson, Kelly Jameson, Hawk Jameson, Skylar Jameson, Slater Jameson, and Tanner Jameson and twelve great grandchildren.
With family always their priority, Bill and Barb attended countless sporting events, competitions, concerts, plays and graduations.

Bill’s love of family and friends, his zest for life, his strong work ethic and endearing sense of humor will long be remembered by those who knew and loved him. He will be missed and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill’s memory to the American Heart Association.

I am so sorry for your loss-my thoughts are with your family. Mr Jameson was a wonderful man, neighbor, and a wonderful friend. I interviewed him when I was a teenager for my US History class and he dressed up in his old uniform to tell me stories from his service. It was always lovely to see him at the end of his driveway and catch up. He will be deeply missed.

Sending our family’s deepest condolences. Bill (and Barbara) were very dear neighbors and very special and significant people to our four children as they grew up. Bill gave our son “the talk” about becoming a man and proudly provided each of our kids an interview for their AP US History class on his WWll memories. So many stories and so many treasured memories.
