Perinton: July 15, 2018 at age 73. Predeceased by her parents William and Ila Knauf, sister Marianne Suzette Knauf, and brothers William Knauf, Jr. (Janet) and Robert Knauf.  Survived by her husband Stephan Craig Miller, son Christopher Burgess (Angela); brother Alan Knauf (Patricia); sister-in-law Lynn Swan; grandchildren Mark and Tabetha Burgess; nieces Jessica Knauf and Sara Evensen (Chris); nephews William Knauf III, Justin Knauf, Nathan and Oliver Knauf; four great nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends and clients.

 

Janine was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (BS aeronautical engineering), Rutgers University (MS accounting), and Columbia University (PhD accounting).   She worked in the aerospace industry, and then transitioned into accounting.  Janine was an accounting professor at New York University, Rutgers, and Florida State University, and later practiced as a certified public accountant.  She also worked as a financial analyst for Keefe Bruyette & Woods in New York City.  By 1987 she returned to her home in Rochester to assist her father with the family accounting business, Knauf & Knauf, and looked after her father and mother for many years.  Janine cared greatly about helping her clients and remained in business in Pittsford as Janine B. Knauf, CPA, PC until the end of 2016 despite her long struggle with myotonic dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease.
