It is with heavy hearts that family and friends announce the loss of James “Jim” A Kay of Fairport, NewYork who passed away on April 24,2018 He was a devoted husband, loving father, valued colleague and compassionate friend. A veteran, James served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1958. Following his service , he was employed by Kodak for 33 years. A master craftsman, he was happiest in his garage surrounded by his tools, lovingly arranged with his daughter Judi.
For the last 22 years, James had been teaching at Monroe #1 BOCES. He loved his job and considered his students and colleagues as part of his family. A highly regarded educator, his kind and gentle nature brought out the best in every student. As a positive role model, he encouraged them to solve problems and invent solutions. They were inspired by his guidance ,successfully learning real-life skills to enrich their own lives and secure them a vital role in the workplace. James will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 31 years, James is survived by his loving wife Geri Kay, children Cheryl Motley, Donna, Scott, Susan, Mark and Tom Kay, and John and Judi Pelc. His love extended to 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his son Patrick Kay. Special thanks to Van Nguyan, Huy luc, Admiral and Gina Lord, Donna Womack, Fran Allen, Sedat Ogultekin , Dr. Michael Myers, and the staff of O’Conner Academy for their never ending help and support in this incredibly difficult time. The family is grateful for your condolences.
