John Keebler

October 25, 1942 – June 29, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John, a devoted son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, friend, and accomplished engineer, who passed away on June 29, 2026 at the age of 83.  John was born in Syracuse, NY and was raised in Skaneateles, NY.  He was a proud graduate of the University of Detroit. 

A mechanical engineer by trade, John possessed a brilliant mind and a passion for helping others. His career with Harris Corporation was a true adventure, taking him across the globe where he spent the majority of his professional life working overseas. He embraced these opportunities, leaving a lasting, positive impact on colleagues and communities.

When he wasn’t working, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or Saint’s Place (at Saint John of Rochester Church) or hosting family gatherings, he was happiest in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace and joy in nature. To his hunting buddies, he was the ultimate companion—reliable, skilled, and always ready to share a story back at the Risingville or Red Tavern Hunting Camps.

Above all, John will be remembered for his infectious spirit. He was always ready to greet anyone with a warm smile, a quick joke, and an easy laugh.

John loved his family fiercely. He was a deeply devoted son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle who prioritized the people he cared about, no matter how far his travels took him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Elizabeth Keebler; his three siblings, Anne Buehler, James Keebler, & Margaret Scarpace; his brother-in-law, Arthur Buehler; and his nephew, Jack Buehler.  He is survived by his sister Joan (Jim) McMahon, brother David Keebler, sister-in-law Joan (Jim) Keebler, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous friends, and hunting companions.

His legacy of kindness, humor, and generosity lives on through his surviving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a vast circle of lifelong friends and volunteer communities he selflessly served.

Mass of Resurrection will be held at:

Graveside Service will be held at:

• Date:  July 20, 2026
• Time: 11:00 AM
• Location: St. Mary’s Cemetery – Skaneateles, NY

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s honor to St. Patrick’s Church Building Fund, Victor, NY, reflecting his lifelong passion to serve others before himself.
