Pittsford: Passed into the presence of the Lord on December 11, 2016. Eileen was born November 7th, 1930 in Rochester, NY. Her parents Joseph and Sarah Hanley were Irish Immigrants landed on Ellis Island in 1923 and made their way to Rochester. Her brother Joseph “Bud” Hanley preceded her in death.
She attended Mercy High School and the University of Rochester where she earned her degree in education. She taught elementary school in Bloomfield, NY and then in the Rochester School District.
While attending the U of R she met the love of her life, Alfred Howard King of Geneva, NY. They married on the day after Christmas December 26 1953.
They built their own home in Pittsford where they raised 4 daughters: Julie, Kim, Amy and Rachel.
Eileen is survived by children, Julie King Foley, Hobe Sound FL, Kimberly King Gilbreth, Ft Collins CO, Amy King Gillesby, Rochester Hills MI and Rachel King Fairport, NY. son-in laws, Greg Harrison, Oma Gilbreth, and Scott Gillesby; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Phelan Williston Vt, Amanda Cross Fairport NY, Sean Gillesby Germany, Megan Gillesby Rochester MI, Clay and Troy Gilbreth Fort Collins Co, Jaimie Gilbreth Laramie WY. Evan King California; 5 great grandchildren McCormac and Maeve Phelan, Declan and Ronan Cross and Graham Gillesby.
The family wishes to thank John Hynes for his unfailing kindness, care and spiritual uplifting of Eileen. The family would also like to thank all the caregivers at St Ann’s Care Center for their outstanding care of Eileen.
Memorial Service Thursday, 11:15AM at Church of the Assumption (Fairport). In lieu of flowers donations to Church of the Assumption or any Catholic charity.
