Lida Virginia King
Lida Virginia King (Edwards), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 95.
Lida was born on August 24, 1931, in Scarsdale, New York. A proud graduate of Goucher College, class of 1953, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She married the love of her life, Harold King, on February 5, 1955. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and a deep devotion to each other. In 1957, Lida and Harold moved to California, where they raised their family in Huntington Beach and enjoyed 50 years of sunsets by the ocean before moving back to New York in 2019.
Lida received her master’s degree in speech pathology in 1973. She dedicated 34 years of her life to helping others as a speech therapist. She found purpose in her work and in the people she had the opportunity to help. She retired in 2007.
Family was at the heart of Lida’s life. She was a devoted wife to Harold, who she said was the other half of her soul. She was a loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Lida Ann, Kris, and Mike; her sister Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Patrick, Michael, Justin, Thomas, Jeffrey, Kevin, Magdalena, and Kiley; her great-grandchildren, Corbin, Chance, Sage, and Maisie; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Lida was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harold, and her son, Scott.
Those who knew Lida will remember her for her deep love of family, her kindness, her generosity, and her ability to always find another question to ask. Her family and friends will carry her memory with them and cherish the many camping trips, beach days, family dinners, and lifetime of shared laughter.
Lida will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her over the past 95 years.

I had the honor of working with Lida for many years at La Madera elementary. She was probably one of the most lovely caring women that I ever met. I always envied her love affair with Harold. She will be missed by so many.
What a most beautiful tribute to a truly beautiful and remarkable woman! Lida was my Best Friend Forever for 51 years, so her passing has left a huge void in my heart, but I’m so happy for her that she’s been united in heaven with her beloved Harold. Most people never get the chance to have such a rich life friendship, but the Lord blessed me with Lida.
Lida was a gift to all of us. At our school, La Madera, she carried out her job with love and compassion. She was so much fun, spicy and sincere, and very accomplished. She loved and related to her speech students. I treasured hearing from her these past few years, sharp as always. Her strong spirit lives on. I celebrate her from California. Lida was one of a kind.
Lida, you will be missed by neighbors in Huntington Beach. On her old street on the 4th of July event.
They welcome my family with open arms and wonderful talks at their home. Caring and funny couple. They will truly be missed. Now Lida is with her sweet husband Harold and son Scott. Beautiful tribute. God bless you and your family. Love always, Sandie & Dan & Laura Doti
Lida Rose 🎶 the King is calling, I would sing when Harold called her at school. It always gave her a chuckle. She was a lovely lady and we had many laughs throughout the years we spent at La Madera. I am privileged to have known her. Her passing is sad, but I know she is so happy to be with her King once again.
I Love you, Lida….Rose🎶
Lida’s life was a gift to everyone who knew her. Such good memories were made on our street in Huntington Beach over the years. She was always ready for a quick chat and a time to laugh. The neighbors missed her and Harold when they moved to N.Y. but she always sent a note to check in. Such a nice tribute. She will be missed. Blessings to all the family.
