It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel (Dan) Martin Kinsky, born on November 24, 1945 and departed from this world to be with our Heavenly Father on September 25, 2023.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Agnes Kinsky. He is survived by his wife, Sheila (55 years of marriage), his 5 children and spouses Dave (Barb) Kinsky, Mike (Tracy) Kinsky, Julie (Jason) Rucker, Maria (Brian) Frazer, Teresa (Brian) O’Dell; 11 grandchildren Matthew, Jonathan, Joshua, Michaela, Lindsay, Jackson, Alexander, Adam, Jilliann, Emily, Joseph; his sister Gail (Phil) Palermo; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and his uncle Fr. Thomas Erdle, numerous relatives, and friends.

He was a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School, St. John Fisher University, and held an MBA from SUNY Albany. Professionally, Dan enjoyed a long and fulfilling 30-year career at IBM, and afterwards at two IBM partners. Dan worked as a systems engineer, where he demonstrated his exceptional dedication to customers.

For four decades, he served as an ordained Catholic Deacon at St. John of Rochester, Church of the Resurrection and Saint Ann’s Community. He worked tirelessly offering spiritual guidance and support to those in need. His homilies were marked by a simple yet profound statement of love and serenity that always ended with the comforting words, “peace be with you.”

Dan had a passion for swimming; he would swim regularly at the YMCA, Perinton Rec Center, area Pool clubs, or just about anywhere that had water! His consistent dedication and internal nature led him to compete in various swimming competitions including Senior Empire State Games. Dan also enjoyed numbers, golf, travel, sports, music, movies, games, and puzzles.

His trademark was his contagious smile, which was evident throughout his life as he touched the hearts of many.

In recent months, Dan faced a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, displaying strength and resilience that inspired all who knew him. Dan received outstanding compassionate care by numerous doctors, nurses and others, especially at the Wilmot Cancer Institute and at the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dan leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Wilmot Cancer Institute https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/cancer-institute/giving.aspx  or Saint Ann’s Community https://stannscommunity.com/donate-now/  in Dan’s memory.

Calling Hours will be held at Keenan Funeral Home in Egypt (Pittsford Palmyra Road) on October 1st from 1:00-3:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 2nd at 10am, at St. John of Rochester (SJR) in Fairport, NY. Reception immediately to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Daniel Martin Kinsky.

I didn’t know Dan personally but was always struck by his kindness. The last time I saw him, he was processing into 11:00 Mass at St. John of Rochester. He was dressed in his white robe and sideways wearing of the deacon’s stole. He walked tall, smiling and proudly carrying the Word of God above his head. Yesterday, in thinking about him, I imagined that this was how he arrived in heaven!
A beautiful soul! He will be deeply missed!

Dan was my cousin. As kids we were lucky to picnic with all our family at the Predmore Farm in Honeoye Falls, NY. Those are fond memories of games and good times and where we all first met his beautiful fiancé Sheila. I moved to Chicago, but occasionally I would come home and had the privilege of attending mass at St. John’s, where Deacon Dan would be giving a homily. Last January, he helped Father Tom officiate at the mass of Christian burial for our cousin, Joan. His homily was heartfelt and helped us be at peace as we celebrated her life. I am sure all the angels and saints came out to greet Deacon Dan as he entered heaven exclaiming with Jesus, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”

To Sheila and family – my thoughts and prayers are w/ you. Dan was a very special man. Hoping you find comfort and peace through wonderful memories and deep faith.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Sheila and the family. Dan was a wonderful, thoughtful, and compassionate man. I first met Dan when his parents were residents on the 5th floor of St. Ann’s and I was the Unit Secretary. Throughout my eight years there, our paths continued to cross either at the Home or in the Chapel and even though I was only an acquaintance, he always made me feel like I was a good friend. R.I.P. Dan.

Sheila, there are so many precious memories of the times we shared over 40+ years. The two of you have had a special place in our hearts, and in support of our marriage. As I said in my letter, one unique memory that comes up often is Dan breaking out into a chorus of “Glorious God, King of creation!” He did love to praise the Lord, and his faith was inspirational.
Much love to you and your precious family.

Sheila, My condolences to you and your family. It was my pleasure being in yours and Dan company when I was at St. Ann’s. My husband just loved when you both took time to visit him. When he was deacon at St. Anns, he was always with a smile and I just enjoyed his homilies. Also, when I saw both of you walk in for Joe’s funeral mass at St. Ann’s my feeling for you both can’t be put in words. My Dan rest in peace and fly with the angels. God Bless you. We’ve known the Kinsky family for many years now and it’s been a privilege to have them as part of our lives. Mr. Kinsky baptized our 3 kids and will always hold a special place in our family. The way that he weaved family and friends into his Sunday homilies showed God in our everyday lives. We’ll miss him.

We send our most sincere condolences to Sheila and the entire Kinsky family. Our young family moved one street away from the Kinskys. Dan baptized our babies at Church of the Resurrection, and we encountered one another as our little ones went trick-or-treating on those chilly Halloweens.
We will cherish Dan’s smile, warmth and joyful spirituality that was such a gift to us.
May God’s love be felt in every embrace you receive, and please know that so many others who no longer live nearby are praying for you.

Dan was my IBM SE for many years at R J Katz & Co. We even travelled to Chicago together to attend an IBM class. Dan was well informed, well mannered and a real professional. In the dictionary under Gentleman they have his picture. (Incidentally, his sister is married to my wife’s cousin, Phillip.)
My heart goes out to the Kinsky family.

We had such fun together, and he was always a warm and caring guy so I am not surprised at the good work he did with others in his life.

He truly was a kind and humble man. Dan was present and always made people feel like they mattered. His gentle demeanor was evident to all those who knew him. Dan was my big cousin and a treasure to our family. We will miss him deeply.

Dan was one of nicest persons I ever met, he was my IBM SE and friend for many years! We all enjoyed his quick and genuine smile, and his humble way. I recall many times him dropping off an IBM Redbook and chatting for a while on his way home, and his desire to get a quick swim in. We know you are already with our God! Prayers and Peace to the Kinsky family!

It was an honor to be trained by Dan Kinsky when I became a marketing manager at IBM. Goodness knows I needed him and he was so kind, patient, informative and reliable. One of the best of the best to work with. I didn’t know he was suffering with such an illness but am so glad our mutual friends reached out to me.
Wishing best wishes to Dan’s family and all the friends, who will miss him..

A serendipitous meeting with Jim and Peggy last Sunday alerted me to Dan’s failing health. Please know that all of you have been held in prayer this week as you released Dan into the loving arms of God. Deacon Dan will continue to bless all those he has touched over the years–his goodness lives on, not only in memory, but in a continuous chain of loving deeds. Our hearts are heavy with Danny’s passing.
The Lord had an early plan, somehow choosing that my parents buy their new home next to the Kinsky’s in 1960.
They have been a part of our lives since.
Danny was my first crush … I was 5.
Seeing Dan and Shelia over the years always brought back special memories of the good old days,
We will forever remember his constant smile, his gentle demeanor, his complete devotion to Shelia, “the kids” and his beloved parents,
His devotion to the Lord needs no explanation. Surely, the Gates of Heaven opened immediately.
RIP dear friend. Prayers of comfort for your family are sent from ours.

Dan was a great guy. He was best friends and classmate of my brother Gary. And I grew up on Linden Street, one street over from where Sheila lived.

He always had a great, friendly smile and way about him. He was a good friend.

I am sure Dan is in heaven and in a high place.

    God Bless You, Dan!

    See you soon (I hope).
