Alice G. Kowalski of Fairport, New York, passed away October 7th, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born to parents Eleanor Gorthey and Frank W. Gorthey, on March 29, 1931 in Gloversville, NY.

She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1949 and went on to study Elementary Education at Oswego State College. She taught 1st grade in Syracuse before starting her family.

She married the late Frank J. Kowalski in 1956, and they lived together in Syracuse before relocating to Fairport in 1967. Alice is survived by three children: Ellen Lennon (Larry), of Palmyra; Anne Cameron (Richard), of Bath, Maine; and David Kowalski (Nancy), of Webster. She is also survived by six grandchildren… and Cali, her fluffy feline friend. Alice was predeceased by her loving husband in 1982.

Alice was a member of the Assumption of Our Lady Church choir for over 40 years and maintained lifelong friendships with fellow members. She was also an active participant at the Fairport Community Center where she spent many happy times with her Fairport friends and the “Starbucks Club” ladies. Alice was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. 

Calling hours will take place at The Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (VILLAGE LOCATION) 41 South Main St., Fairport on Friday evening, October 11th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday morning, October 12th, at 9:00am at Assumption of Our Lady Church.

    Alice Kowalski worked as a teaching assistant for many years at Monroe #1 BOCES. She was a loved and respected member of the educational team and will be fondly remembered by all of her colleagues at BOCES #1.
