Anthony John La Sala
*November 7, 1949 – July 4, 2024*
Anthony John La Sala, a man who could swing a golf club as smoothly as he could whisk an egg, passed away on July 4, 2024. Born in Manhattan, NY, on November 7, 1949, Anthony lived a life full of laughter, love, and legendary dinners. He has now joined his father, Frank La Sala, his mother, Alice La Sala, and his son, James La Sala, where he’s undoubtedly organizing the first celestial golf tournament.
Anthony is survived by his beautiful wife, Jenny La Sala, who will forever cherish the laughter, love, and chaos he brought into their lives. He is also survived by his brother Stephen (Michelle) La Sala of Antrim, NH.
Anthony also leaves behind a colorful cast of characters: his children, Dr. Jess La Sala of Pittsford NY; Stephanie La Sala (Evan Costaldo) of Murrells Inlet, SC; Frank (Diane) Parisi of Oceanside, NY; and Allison La Sala of Larchmont, NY. His stepchildren, Holly Markson of Pittsford, NY and Curtis Markson of Brooklyn, will forever miss his stories. His grandkids, Beau, Nathaniel, Grace, James, Harry, Gia, Faye and Arturo can rest assured he’s watching over them, making sure they stay tattoo-free from the great beyond.
Nieces Francesca La Sala of the Phillipines and Alessandra (Lee) Beers of Whitefish, MT; and nephew Stephen La Sala of Antrim, NH will miss his sage advice and his sense of humor.
Anthony worked along with his father who was the president of the La Sala Contracting Company. The La Sala family has been in the building trades for over three generations in NYC. The family build the Pan Am building (now known as the MetLife Building), the MGM Tower, the New York Hilton Midtown, the Americana of New York (now known as the Sheraton New York Times Square), One Astor Plaza, the Uris Theatre (now known as the Gershwin), 1 New York Plaza, the Mill at Burlington House, JP Stevens Company Tower, 733 Park Avenue, 30 Lincoln Plaza (where the Met is housed), Starrett City Housing (now known as Spring Creek), NY Telephone Company Building, 1700 Broadway, most of the NYC Housing Authority, the TWA Flight Center at JFK, the Minskoff Theatre to name a couple. Independently, Anthony built the Tower at Greystone in Yonkers, NY.
He had several golfing accomplishments. He was a three-time champion for the Leewood Golf Club in Eastchester, NY in 1979, 1987 and 1990. He also won first place along with Christopher Cuculick, Jess La Sala, and James La Sala for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf alumni golf fundraiser. He was also a one-time golf champion for the Champion Hills Country Club in Victor, NY.
Anthony was named Man of the Year for the Boys Town of Italy and at Iona Preparatory for his dedication, commitment and service to both organizations. He also donated to many organizations such as the Clarke School for the Deaf and to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
Sunday dinners won’t be the same without Anthony’s pasta, homemade spaghetti sauce, meatballs, and short ribs. He was also well-known for his delicious chateaubriand and his famous broccoli rabe—because you weren’t truly Italian if you didn’t love his broccoli rabe.
Anthony’s parting wish is for everyone to enjoy a round of golf, whip up their favorite dish, and eat with family. Rest in peace, Anthony – may your heavenly fairways be forever green and may your Sunday dinners in the sky be as unforgettable as they were here on Earth.
Please join us to celebrate Anthony’s life Saturday July 13, 2024 from 12 to 4pm at the Blue Heron Hills Golf Club (https://blueheronhillsgc.com/)
in Macedon, NY.

Anthony RIP. I knew Tony way back when with a friend Morris Spitzer. We had a great time and I will always remember is upbeat attitude and humor.
We all went our separate life’s journey but I will always remember his kindness.
Thanks for sharing part of your life with me TONY. RIP BROTHER. Steve Rerych MD
He was always the funniest, the most positive, and entertaining person in the room (and we have a great family). 💔 what a loss for all of us but how lucky for Frank, Alice and James to see him again..
I met Anthony just a few short years ago. I was immediately drawn to his humor and great big personality. Anthony and I did not have a long time on this earth together but I grew to love and respect the man that he was. Rest in peace Anthony. Most sincerely, Rose Van Slyke peace
The Casey family, my family, were members of Leewood. My mom even went to school with Tony’s mom, Alice. Anthony was humorous, a good athlete from his gracefull diving, swimming and of course, golf. Glad to hear his life was successful, especially with his family. May God bless you all with strength, love and sense of humor to carry on with your lives during this hard time ….
