Remembrance – March 17, 1933 to May 11, 2022
Joan was born in 1933 in England.   She spent her childhood in London during World War II with her parents and brothers who were all involved in the war effort.  Those formative years spent in London during the war were deeply impactful and she shared with her husband Sam a lifelong deep appreciation for all those who fought in the war.
In 1954 Joan joined friends from London in Rochester New York and began working in the Law Offices of Harter Secrest and Emery.  Joan met her husband  Sam in 1956 and they were married on November 3, 1959.
Joan enormously enjoyed her work at the Law firm but left in 1964 to begin a family.  Together with her husband Joan had two daughters, Dawn and Susan born in 1964 and 1966 respectively.
Joan and Sam settled in Fairport and built three houses together living in the third and final house for the past 60 years.  Home and family were everything to Joan and she greatly enjoyed creating a deeply nurturing home for her family.  
Joan’s is predeceased by her husband Sam and is survived by her daughter Dawn Rand and her husband Eric Rand, her daughter Susan Lanzatella and her husband John D’Alto and her grandson Shane Smithrand and his wife Marietta Smithrand.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church of Pittsford, Tuesday at 11AM
(36 S Main St, Pittsford, NY 14534).

    I am so sad to hear about Joan. She was a very special mom on our street growing up. Joan and Sam were so kind and I treasured my friendship with Susan and Dawn. Lots of special memories. Love and Peace to you all.
