Elizabeth McGuinness Lawrence whose grace and beauty emanated from her soul and embraced everyone whose life she touched, passed from a vibrant life on earth to the peace and joy of the eternal life of the spirit on Friday, December 5th, 2014.

Liz is reunited with the spirits of her parents, Louise and Arthur McGuiness, her brother, Ted McGuinness, and her mother-in-law Ceil Lawrence.   She is survived by her children and beloved grandchildren: Michele Lawrence, Asif Shah, Noor, Ebrahim and Sam Shah; Chris, Donna, Justin and Brandon Lawrence; and Kara Lawrence, Darren Williams and Theo Williams; her brother Bill McGuiness and sister Mary McGuiness and countless devoted friends.   Liz’s spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of everyone who loved her.  We will see her smile in the beauty and sparkle of nature and the wonders of the world around us.

Liz was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island, and lived most of her adult life in Fairport, New York.  She graduated from St Xavier Academy in Providence, Rhode Island (as did her mother, Louise); studied liberal arts at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI; and graduated from the University of North Dakota. Liz was the best mother, grandmother and friend one could ask for, and she was also a talented businesswoman. Liz took great joy in her family, grandchildren, friends, HUGS, celebrations, gardens, and the ocean. Her depth of commitment to developing and sustaining friendships was remarkable.

We will celebrate Liz’s life on Thursday morning, December 11th at 10 am at Spiritus Christi Church on N. Fitzhugh Street, Rochester, where Liz has been an active member of the worship community.   Friends and family are invited to visit Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, on Wednesday, December 10th,  between 2-5pm, to share their love of Liz with us.  Private burial will be in Spring 2015.

Michele, Chris, and Kara and families – I am deeply saddened to learn of your Mom’s passing – she was a beautiful woman inside and out and a dear friend. We all have lost an unbelieveable, outgoing, and fun woman here on Earth – Heaven has gained a special angel that will continue to light up the world. God bless you all – Much love, Anne
