Ann Laurie (Gottschalk) Long
December 27 1963 – October 17 2023
Surrounded by love, Ann left us suddenly to forge her new path on October 17th, 2023. Despite being taken too soon, Ann lived a truly magnificent life. As the youngest child of Catherine and Charles Gottschalk, she relished being spoiled beyond belief. She was blessed with four loving, funny and joyful siblings who shaped her sweet and hilarious nature. She had an adventurous spirit and could find laughter and fun in the simplest of moments. She was well respected as a buyer for manufacturing companies and her personality left all of her co-workers marveling at “only Annie stories.” The best part of her life was being a dedicated and wonderful mother to her daughter. She also loved her Cairn Terriers and rescue puppy from Mexico-Rosalita. Together, with her husband, she enjoyed camping, boating and visiting Mexico. She was also a welcoming loving step-mother and “Grannie Annie” to her incredible 3 step children and 6 beautiful granddaughters.
She filled all of our lives with joy and devious wit. She will always be remembered for her famous laugh and snort that followed her jokes. Even in her death she found a way to leave us with funny stories.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim, daughter Maggie (fiancé Paul Derleth), step children Lisa Garczynski, Jimmy (Teri) Long, Kristen (Jeremy) Macaluso, siblings Maryhelen (Mike) Finn, Dan (Debbie) Gottschalk, Kathleen Gottschalk (Deb Pitts), and Pat (Sal) Ragusa, grandchildren Sarah & Emily Garczynski; Gabie & JJ Long; Paige & Mila Macaluso, nieces Shana, Dana, Catherine, and nephew Charlie.
Heartfelt thanks to her good friends Scott, Sue, Katie, and Becca Skolnick for their unwavering support during the past few weeks. Many thanks to the amazing 8th floor Neuro ICU team at Strong for everything they did for Ann and our family—YOU are truly angels.
Today, we are sure Ann is sharing her warm nature, kindness, quick wit, and Amazon and Etsy shopping tips with everyone in the next life. When you see an oddly placed penny, a hummingbird that gets just a little too close, or an unexpected amazon package arriving at your door, know this is Ann doing what she loves most by taking care of all those around her.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct 25th from 4-7pm at Richard H Keenan Funeral Home: 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Oct 26th at 11am at White Haven Memorial All Seasons Chapel: 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ann’s favorite charity, the Alzheimer’s Association.

She was the most caring woman I knew. Helped me through when my mother passed and I thought of her as a second mother. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten. Condolences to the family and friends.

Our hearts go out to Jim and Maggie We had so many good times with Jim and Annie while boating or just getting together over the winter months. RIP Annie, you will be missed ???
Jim and family, I am so sorry about your loss. I keep remembering Ann’s constant smile as both of our families grew up together as kids as first cousins so many years ago. Jesus said that they have a place for everyone in the Kingdom of God so Ann is at peace with God. Cousin Jim

Ann was an incredibly giving, loving, and supportive friend. She welcomed me into the neighborhood in some tumultuous times offering her home, a smile, and a hug. Her generosity of spirit wrapped my family in love and kept them safe. She will live on through happy memeories. I am sorry to miss the memorial but will be thinking of her wonderful family through this painful separation. She grew an amazing family that I am blessed to know.
