Carol Loomis passed away quietly at her home in Fairport, NY at the age of 85 on March 7, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Artha Morrison and her daughter Kimberly Ann Dillon. Carol is survived by Wayne, her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 64 years, daughter Karen Gregory (David), sons Jeffrey (Cathy) and David (Kris). In addition, Carol enjoyed the blessing of thirteen grandchildren: Nathan, Joel, Brianna, Justin, Chelsea, Ryan, Michael, Samuel, Peter, Moriah, Jacob, Sarah, and Jack and twelve great-grandchildren.

Carol was born on September 12, 1938 in Holley, NY. She grew up in Brockport, NY along with her younger brother Richard Morrison. She met Wayne in Brockport High School in the 9th grade. They fell in love and stayed close to each other through high school and later during college, when she attended Potsdam for elementary education while Wayne attended nearby Clarkson. They were married on August 29, 1959.

In her full and active life, Carol enjoyed many interests and activities. She loved taking cruises with Wayne and theirlocal cruise friends, visiting dozens of places from New Zealand to Norway. Carol and Wayne also enjoyed extended road trips,  driving from Fairport to Vancouver one summer (with four kids and a dog in the car) and taking many, many trips over the years to visit the children and grandchildren that lived out west and down south.

Between all of these trips far and wide, Carol enjoyed many, many days at the family cottage on Keuka Lake, taking in the quiet scenery, going for boat rides and cheering on all her children and grandchildren in their water skiing. When not there, she often could be found enthusiastically cheering on her grandchildren at their hockey games, baseball games, Soccer games, swim meets, dance recitals, Pinewood Derbies and later offering loving support at their graduations, weddings and the births of her great grandchildren. She would readily share pictures and glowing accounts of all of these to her friends and pretty much anyone else, the pride in their accomplishments never failing to shine through.

Carol was an avid quilter, participating in the Perinton Quilt Guild and traveling to many quilt shows in multiple states. Her beautiful quilts and creative pillows were intentionally and lovingly created for many family members. These are treasured by all.

Carol was also active in her community in many ways. She earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Nazareth College and then taught Nursery School at the Fairport First Baptist Church  Pre-School Program. She participated in other church activities at The First Baptist as well. For many years she worked with Fairport school children as part of the Listening Post program, talking with individual students and giving them a much-needed sounding board for problems, thoughts and dreams. She was once chosen as Volunteer of the Year at the Brooks Hill School.

Keenan Funeral Home, in Fairport, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13 from 3 to 5 pm and a memorial service will be held immediately thereafter at 5 pm in the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home at  7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd (RT-31) in Perinton. Private interment will be held Thursday, March 14 at 10 am. Memorial gifts in Carol’s name can be made to https://fairportbaptisthomes.org/donate-to-fbh/.

Carol’s deep love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with her many friends has left an enduring and eternal mark on all of them. The world around her was always enriched by her compassion, joy and grace. The wonderful memories of her life will be treasured by all of us.

May God bless you Carol, Mom, Grandma and GG as you enter into His beautiful heaven.

The passing of Carol, traveling pal, Missionary church board co-member and “where are we eating today after church” very close friend, leaves a large void in the hearts of all who knew her. We shared so many good times over the years, & some sad times and yet some great times traveling across oceans & to far away places. Blessing to Wayne for his continued caring for her as her health was failing, always at her side. Blessings & condolences to all of her family and may they be at peace knowing the promise of Jesus of a better place..

We were so sorry to see Carol’s obituary in this morning’s paper. Karen and our daughter Holly were best of friends in High School.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carol’s family. May she rest in peace.

This is sad news. It was fun being in the G2 (Generation Two) program at Brooks Hill with Carol, before she moved to Listening Post. She was really good with our first grade friends, and I always enjoyed seeing her beautiful quilt pictures. It’s a disappointment to know I won’t be running into her around town any more.

Sending prayers for all her family
